Elk unit 50

Hello all. Just drew a unit 50 NM tag for rifle Oct. 12. Looking for information and guidance. Hunted all my life and rough camp for deer and hogs in Texas. i will probably try to have the hunt outfitted/guided for a great hunt.

Pm me. I have hunted this unit with friends and family. It is a rough hunt but there are some big elk in the area and im sure you can do it with out a hiring help.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-23-13 AT 00:01AM (MST)[p]I drew the same tag this year. Let me start off by saying its a rough hunt. I drew this tag before and killed a good 5x5 in 2010. But I have eaten this tag a good number of times. It was all luck if you ask me. The success rate is not very good. I cant remember where but I read it was like a 17% success rate. Expect tons of hunters going up and down every road all day. Infact there was a hunting accident a couple years back. There are elk but you just got to find them. Its a real low elevation unit. Stay away from the crowds. Sometimes I wonder why I keep putting in for this tag.
