Double Big Buck Slam!!!!! (Lots of pics & video)

What an awesome hunt my buddy, James, and I had in Wyoming. Used Wan Wolfley's horses and packed into an area where I had seen a 27-incher and a 29-30 incher. On day two (yesterday), we happened to be together when we spotted these bucks. LUCKY US, we were able to get within 310 yards and on the count of 1-2-3.....we let lead fly (I missed the first shot). Two BIG BUCKS down!!!!!!

Super fun hunt. James took the wider buck and I took the heavier buck with the cheater. The cheater buck I videotaped in July and you can see that clip at MonsterHuntClips.com. He was a buck that I knew I'd be happy with. Never did I "really" think I'd ever see him again.

You need to watch this video clip and see how excited we were to slam two trophy bucks. It was an incredible day!!!!

Dang it looks pretty cold there,You guys getting ready for swimming. Looks like you guys did a good job on a couple of nice bucks.Brian I think I would of took the buck you did, he just a nice looking buck. James likes those wide ones BUT heavy is what gets the ticker going. Both would die if they stepped out one at a time, If I saw the wide one first I would be done hunting a few sec later.
 
I just can't figure what you guys are smiling about must be the high altitude!! Congrats to both of you guys on some fine bucks. Both of them will make a beautiful mount! Congrats again!!

You made the right decision on the heavy buck... but good hell, imagine if you were alone and had that decision... hell of a deal!

I would take either buck in a heartbeat, but given a choice, the heavy one would go down first!
I am going up to region G this year (unit 135 -- oct. 1), and these pics really get the juices flowin!

I did not have a tag this year but i was up there with friends and family for the opener...you guys did very, very well on your hunt. What you did there was probably equal to two guys both taking 210 class bucks 8 years ago on that range.

I know the determination and effort it must have taken to kill those deer...well done.

Holy crap, that video was the best I have ever seen!!!! That country is so beautiful and I'm totally speechless on those TWO bucks man that is awesome......

I just rolled in from from hunting Wyoming with a friend and his son (boy had the tag) and I wish we had half the luck you guys did! We never saw a buck in 2-1/2 days of hard hunting and never heard a shot fired until late yesterday afternoon! Talked to several people who have hunted the area for a lot of years who said they've never seen a poorer hunt. It was great looking country, but we saw more moose than deer.

Going back in October to a different area and we're keeping our fingers crossed for some weather between now and then...

Oh WOW! amazing bucks, amazing country, amazing video, and...amazing luck. I know there's a few of those boys left up there but they are few and far between. The preseason scouting sure paid off. Congrats!
 
Absolutely great bucks! Pic's and stories like this are the reason I login into to MM.

Heres a question: If you would have been alone, what buck would you have wanted to take? Both bucks are incredible but I think you made the right choice.

P.S. You guys need one of those 6' steel tapes. They're only about 1/4" wide and only weigh about 2oz. $2.98 at any hardware store!:):)
 
Yes there are still big deer in wyoming, but we need to keep all you yahoos from utah in your own state before you kill all our deer off too. I just came back from a hunt up in the greys river country and if I didn't know better I would of thought I was in utah. I saw 9 trucks with wyoming plates and close to 80 trucks and campers and horse trailers all from utah. It is starting to get ridiculous.

Hey thanks everyone! It was so much fun. I'm glad I turned on the camera as we walked up to the bucks. I just had my little Olympus Stylus 760, but it captured good enough video to give me a smile everytime I watch that clip. Just a super day of hunting.

TJ - Words encouragement...just enjoy yourself and do your best. The evening before we got these bucks I stood on that high ridge just taking it all in. Was just glad to be up there. That's the only downside to filling a tag, is now I'm back home working.

If I were you though I would be taking that video off the internet. Your buddy is breaking the law by not having any Orange on, and that could get him in some trouble. Our Game and Fish does pay attention to these type of forums just to see instenses just like that. I'm not trying to stir the pot I am just trying to keep you guys from getting in trouble.

I wouldn't worry about getting trouble for not wearing orange, the video is taken after the hunting is done no need for orange after the animal is down (according to the law)
 
As long as he is still handling the gun and walking up to the deer Orange needs to be worn. I have learned this the hard way.

Another congrats in a long line of 'em, but well deserved! I am hoping to find a stud buck like one of them here in the next couple weeks!

We hunted the same WY Region through Wednesday and out of 4 of us we brought 1 buck home - but he is a good deer with some great character - 26" wide double cheater buck!! We saw a good number of small bucks too - with mild winters 3 or 4 years from now could be some good hunting! ...the elk put on quite a sound show too - man a week in WY was heaven!
 
That was a great video. You guys were giddy as could be. And I would of been the same way. It isn't that often that you get to double up like that. Good job of a couple great bucks. I'm waiting to see which one is going to score higher. Yours has more mass but his is wider.
 
Nicely done you two! Both bucks are great. I do like the mass buck if I could pick, but both would fit my bill!

I am going to have to agree with you muley if those carrot eaters want to hunt deer in wyoming they are giong to have to live in this cold wind blown desolate state with us
