what happened in region g

Can anyone tell me what happened to the deer in region g/wyoming? Two years ago we saw tons of deer, I shot a 28" 4x5 and my buddy shot a 26" 4x4. Same place this year all we saw were small two points and very few does. We tried three different canyons and left very discouraged. The hunt goes for 3 weeks but I am not sure I even want to go back up. Can anyone help me?

I figured the wolves but had'nt thought about the Eastmans. I am new to wyoming, where should i go next year?

Region G still does produce some nice deer but you really need to put in the time doing some preseason scouting. With all the popularity that Region G has gotten thanks to Eastmans, especially in the last 7 or 8 years with both non-residints and residents, then you add in the wolves and the oil and gas boom on the winter range and you have what we have today.

I have been putting in for some Colorado and Utah hunts where they manage for trophy quality. That is what I would do if I were you especially until Wyoming G&F makes region G areas Limited Quota, which isn't any time soon.

Have your buddy Jason show you where to go, he has taken some seriously good Bucks up there in the last few years!!!

We went to the same area that he shot several of those seriously good bucks. They just werent there this year. We did tons of glassing and hiked about 30 miles. Anyway how did you know Jason is my Buddy?

While bowhunting this year, I was really shocked at the amount of deer and the lack of quality.

I am not real certain about Eastman's or the wolves? being the problem.... not every hunter that hunts the G units gets Eastman's....nor are there wolves in every G unit....nor oil exploration... no doubt it all adds up though.

Sure make it LQ for everyone....
