HENRYS MUZZY TAG

Wow I hope your buddy is okay. I would hunt that tag from my coffin before I turned it in. Now if only I had applied for that tag I would have another chance.

Do you know why he turned his tag back in Russ? Maybe he wasn't seeing anything that appealed to him while scouting? I can't imagine that being the case on the Henry's. You gotta love UT and their rules huh... I can see letting people turn tags in if they are hurt, called into the military or something is terribly wrong but just so they can keep their points and try again next year is a joke. The one that is really a joke is when their wife/grandma turns her tag back in so their husband/son will still have pts to hunt with later...

I hope your buddy is ok both physically and mentally. :)

He's ok both ways maybe flakey would be a better term Shawn. I've got 6 days down there scouting there. We saw good bucks, I saw a 6x8 last time down, that was 34 wide. I'm at a loss for words.

Ouch! That 34" buck sounds like a dandy! To bad you won't be able to go back later on with your buddy and let the air out of him... Wouldn't it be great to have that tag, just once!

Mortgageman are you serious? You already tagged a GIANT elk, and now you have the chance on a GIANT muley, all in one season!. I wish I had the same amount of luck as you.

I don't know if I would want the tag, only getting it a few days before the hunt started. Not being able to scout and all. I guess it all depends on the nuber of preference points I had. Few points I would take it, Max points I would not.

This is off-topic a little but maybe not too much. I have a rifle permit for the Henry Mtns. and I have been down there several times looking for Mr. Big. I was down there today and saw something unusual. I was on the road going south from Coyote Benchs toward Stanton Pass and came to the spring that is fenced with a "cow-proof" pole fence. There were four buffalo inside the pole fence. They went bananas when they saw me on my wheeler and I expected them to go over or through the pole fence. They stampeded from one side of the corral to the other and never did find their way out. Still don't know how they got inside the fence but I'm sure they will find a way out. They were cows with yearling calves. If they would have been big bulls there would be need for a major fence repair.

Anyway, lots of big bucks on the Henries. I've found a few that would be instant shooters anywhere but the Henries. Still have not found the one with my name on it but I will before the hunt starts. Beautiful down there. Hard frost this morning and a cap of snow on Ellen. I am in heaven.
