My son drew the (early)youth any bull hunt. My oldest son drew 10 yrs ago and we hunted near Vernal. Didn't see an elk. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We would like to try another area this time. Thanks!

My son also drew the youth elk tag. My other son drew three years ago and had a great hunt without bagging a bull, but he had chances at three good bulls. Just young and learning the game and did not sqeeze the trigger when he should have.

We were in the south slope area and will be back there again this fall.

Best of luck to you.

My daugter also drew the youth elk tag,she is 12 and this would be her first big game
hunt. Not familiar with any of the areas but want it to be a unforgettable experience
for her..any information is appreciated guides, trans passing fees etc...
good luck to all tag holders this season

I've hunted any bull areas most of my life. The elk there can be difficult to locate and stubborn with calls. Silent calling techniques can work great here. The wilderness areas North of Vernal can hold some decent bulls for an open bull unit. If you have horses it can be extremely helpful. I took my 16 year old brother in law up here and found him a nice 6 point. He was never able to get a shot of and quite nervous, but it was still a fun experience.

My boy drew this tag two years ago. We hunted the North slope between Hoop Lake and Elizabeth Ridge. We hunted hard and finally Killed a young 4X5. It wasn't as easy as I thought it was gonna be but it sure was fun. Put in your time and you should be able to get 'er done. Good luck to ya.

Congrats to all that had family draw this tag. I also had my nephew draw this tag and will be spending 6 days with him on this hunt. I am extremely excitied about it and cannot wait. I archery hunt open bull every year and know right where we will be. Good lucky to all of you.
