I just received my order from Midway that is Federal Premium 300 Weatherby Mag. 180gr TROPHY COPPER.
Anyone shoot this type of round either the 300 Wby or any other caliber loaded with Trophy Copper rounds??
This is the only thing I can find that is NOT BACKORDERABLE so I bought 20 rounds and will give it a try...I do have Weatherby 180gr Nosler Partitions that will go with me too.

Brian i justed ordered a Box of Trophy copper in 300 win mag from Gander mountain they should be here next week and i'm gonna try them out.

Thanks Bruce I hope to talk my way to a friends hunting club (family ranch) and just shoot a few rounds out there. Problem is that they don't have a good 100yd range unless they have changed some landscape to make it a honest 100yard range.
No good shooting range in our area anymore and the ones that RUN the only that is around here are a bunch of jerks.

My 1979 300WbyMag didn't shoot the barnes bullets well. I hand load and went to the nosler accubond. Let me know how it goes keep your barrel clean. JB

I have shot them for years. They have good accuracy and great knock down power. A few years back I shot a bull at 436 yards with my .280 Remington, 150 grain federal premium bullets. I don't like shooting that far, but the fog that morning deceived me and an accurate reading from my range finder. Needless to say I missed the first shot, realized my range and put the next 2 in the boiler room. My second and third shots hit an inch apart and passed completely through the bull. He wouldn't have made it too far with the first hit, but I put another one in him for insurance and he dropped right there. I couldn't ask for a better performance out of a bullet.

Kenny,

Federal Premium 300 Weatherby Mag. 180gr TROPHY COPPER.

I am talking about the TROPHY COPPER LOADS not the PARTITIONS.

Is your question about terminal performance or accuracy? Feedback on terminal performance should be valuable, and if they are TSX bullets, you can count on 95%+ weight retention and most likely pass through shots even on bull elk unless you hit both shoulders. TSX rounds are always fairly easy to get to shoot well, but you can never count on any particular performance in your gun unless you shoot them. Whatever another 300 Wby shoots is no guarantee, and barely correlated to yours. Even if they do shoot well, be prepared for up to 4-5" shift in Point of Impact at even 100 yards, compared to your partitions.

Good luck.
