Whitetail tactics on mulies?

Does anyone know if rattling, scents, grunting or any of the "whitetail in the rut" tactics would work on mulies in the rut? Specifically the late archery hunt.

Personally, I dont think any Whitetail tactics would work with any regularlity.....Rattling / grunting- may work out of courisity, not out of aggression as a whitetail may take it.....scents- would mask odors more than anything.....patterning mulies- is rarely successful but, in a perfect world ie private land without any hunting pressure, you would have a better chance....I stick with what works for me, homework, scouting, glassing, glassing and oh yeah homework! Good luck! Let us know how it goes!

LAST EDITED ON Oct-25-07 AT 09:05AM (MST)[p]Get some tinks 69 scent wafers, that and grunting work very well, I use them on my rut hunts for muzzy in Idaho. Rattling hasn't worked too well. Good luck

We use rattling and grunting for muleys in the rut quite often and they do act aggresively. They come in just like a whitetail looking to kick some ass, ears back and hair all bristled up. They fight just like whitetails so I don't know why people would think they won't respond to rattling. I have shown these photos before but here are a few photos of bucks coming to rattling and grunting.

I've heard of doe bleets working and grunting for mulies here in NM but I kinda associated those tactics with accidently calling deer in while coyote calling. Sure it happens but it doesn't seem to be as effective as covering ground and glassing.

I'm all for covering ground and glassing, but I figured once I found something I liked, it would be nice to be able to get him to come to me. Thanks for the tips, I'll let you know how it goes.
