On behalf of the landowner and DWR-
A bull elk, probably a 6x6, was poached on private land in East Canyon (Summit County side) adjacent to the Mormon Trail, sometime over the the weekend of the 21st. The poachers utilized horses, and may have come in from the Salt Lake county side.
If anyone was around the trailheads at Big Mountain, Summit Park, or Mormon Flat, and recalls any vehicle/horse trailers, or perhaps saw horse hunters packing out a branch-antlered bull along the Great Western trail, any information you can provide is helpful.
