UT,
I had a doe tag for 41, since I can't seem to draw a buck tag, which borders those units. I spent a good portion of that tag scouting out alternative elk hunting spots just in case my usual honey hole doesn't work out. We also drove over the Grand Mesa today. On top there is about 1-8 inches of snow. Down lower all of the snow has melted off. It has been pretty hot and sunny. I found the remains of several elk in a new area I was checking out (portions that weren't packed out, head, legs, bone out out etc) so there was some luck going on. Deer are still higher than normal for this time of year. The elk will be wherever they haven't been bothered yet. That means steep nasty stuff or hiding in the PJ down lower.
Good luck, I'll be out there for elk on Nov 3.
Filled the doe tag this morning about a half mile from home.
