Central Utah Buck

Had some good fortune on my Utah Rifle hunt and thought I'd share some photos and story. We watched a canyon for an hour at first light seeing many does and small bucks. We were just about to leave and check another canyon when I glassed this buck tending some does. Heard a 4 wheeler start his engine and start moving quickly in our direction so moved quickly into position for the shot. After a couple shots to warm up the barrel, I connected on a 320 yard neck shot with the 270 WSM.

After taking care of photos, caping and boning the beast- I had a beast of a pack. Right now he is set for a Euro mount- should I change plans and do a full shoulder mount? The cape was beautiful- swollen neck, roman nose, nice white neck patch.

Great Buck! I would do a full shoulder mount unless you have killed lots of Bucks that size before....

Regardless of how many bucks you have killed, that would be a beautiful mount. Great buck!

do what i've done. euro mount it and hang that sucker up! but only for the duration of time the cape is being processed by your taxidermist. do both. it has worked out great for me.

the only eagle with enough power and speed to kill and gut you with one shot

WELL UTodd!!!

GLAD THE "JACKASS" ON THE WHEELER DIDN'T GET AN EASY KILL!!!

AMAZES ME HOW THEY THINK THEY CAN SCREAM IN ON A DECENT BUCK!!!

GREAT JOB!!!

THE ONLY bobcat THAT KNOWS ALOT OF YOU HAVE HAD THIS IMAGE IN YOUR PEA BRAIN BUT DUE TO POOR SHOOTING TACTICS I'M STILL KICKIN!!!

Oh ya, put him on the wall. Nothing better looking than a bunch of mulies on display! Great buck, way to stick to the glassing.

Congrats on an awesome Utah buck. I'd go for the shoulder mount if I were you. Can't ever have too many of those.

What I really want to know is how you like that Eberlestock pack??

Great Nebo buck, I'm really glad someone got something in the burn area. Great job, he is a hog for sure!

Thanks for all the nice comments. The Eberlestock is a lifesaver and I love the versatility. I still don't know what I will do when I have a deer and my camp to pack out..I know the pack will handle all that stuff, but can I? I was a little further north of Nebo..benefited greatly from the snow a week earlier.

Great Buck!
Either Euro or Shoulder, he'll look great...I have some of both, and I like the variety!
Great job

By the way,
I live in UT.
There are a lot of UTARDS that live here.
I have also seen quite a few WYOMORONS, NEVADUHNS, COLORADORKS, ID-IOTS and AIRHEADZONANS in my travels.

Nice one! Glad I was there to help and take field photos. You definitely need to get some practice capeing and boning. It took you like 3 hours!

Thanks for the help Gonzo. I think I was distracted by the shooting gallery going on around us.
