I'm sorry Bobcatbess but this term must go as it isn't a word I would like my class to see at least as a topic term. Many of my students enjoy this forum. You want the youth of our country to participate in this sport? I would suggest not using vulgar terms to describe the best of the best this species has to offer.

How about the term " Pee Strainer" instead? this would fit right in with all the other terms our poor kids are hearing at school everyday!

The world isn't going to straighten up if everybody waits to climb on board. I really don't like the word "dink" either. We both agree on the trash on Tv so I only try to watch the Packers and occasional BBC news and some local news. I will watch NBC for news about once a week. If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem.

I teach in an elementary school and I don't read to them any colorful jokes off this forum. We can choose to recruit with what we say or print or we can reinforce the "crude image" many people have of hunters. Around camp where there are not as many ears and eyes you may do as you please and offend very few.

As a father of 4 we try to controll what are kids watch on TV and its hard. We try to talk to are kids and teach them the best we can on subject like this and other bad things. We know as parents they will be exposed to it. It is hard to controll.
Have i ever slipped and said bad things or words in front of my kids, yes i have, am i proud, no i am not. I bought a hunting video the other day and was watching it with my kids NEVER ENOUGH All my kids and a couple of there friends watching a part were the hunter says "we got r A--'s kicked today. I was embarrest. Everyone has a right to speak and say what they want, but i hope my son would never come home using a word pisscutter refering to hunting.

Sensorship on the internet? bobcat, you can say pisscutter all you want. If I choose not to read it, or if I do not like it, or if I get offended by it, I will quit reading. Teach the kids to use their judgement on right and wrong instead of trying to get a website with 10k+ people to use the proper language for your classroom.

These are some other uses bess. Maybe start using them instead? Make sure you do not use the word penus though. That one is vulgar as well. Stay with the toddler terms for best results. Talking of any bodily fluids including gas is non acceptable around here. Fart is another one that is not approved. I know a few folks that think this is the "F" word! HA!

ktc.. although I think that driftersifter is overreacting way too much on the word "pisscutter" and just needs to chill out, however, I don't think your post about Utahn's shoving their morals down everyones throat post is appropriate... Not very cool to stereotype someone just because they are from a certain part of the country or have different beliefs than you do.
 
I guess that depends if your the one doing the "shoving" or if your on the receiving end.

Maybe my comment was out of line, but can you honestly tell me that the beliefs of one certain organaization here in Utah does not affect every citizen of Utah and how they choose to live?

This thread is a perfect example. Many people in Utah DO NOT try to impose their religious beliefs on others, but MANY of them do.

Drifter- I respect you as a teacher and I am glad you are concerned about our youth. But this just isn't the type of forum you can censor. You want kids not to hear that word...try censoring what sites they visit. It's just unrealisitc to expect people on a public forum to only use words you feel are acceptable.

Oh...and the word 'pisscutter' IS in the Urban Dictionary (which...don't let kids read THAT! hoo boy you'll get an education from that you never wanted). It has 2 different meanings though.

The first meaning is: Some thing particularly impressive. An exclamation.

The 2nd meaning fits Bobcat's usage of the word: A small or insignificant thing or person.

LOL ho! You can tell someone isn't of THAT frame of mind if he's gonna have the username 'ho'. It just says alot about your character (which is good) that you didn't realize that would be a name taken the wrong way. Just sign up again under a new name. Problem solved.

Bess, I know we had this discussion about a year ago...that is, the definition of pisscutter. I always used it in the term of something behemoth or very large. And ofcourse, you use the term to describe the dink dink deer of UTAH,

Back in the late 60s while hunting with my father, Elmer Keith and Jack ( damn, can't seem to remember his last name) in the Salmon River drainage, Elmer and Jack both used the word to describe HUGE monster muleys. So...maybe we should compromise a bit and agree to agree that a pisscutter is a female pubic hair that somehow breaks the flow of a golden shower.... if you know what I mean? And since we never talk about holding hands and taking showers together we wont offend anyone with the term pisscutter. What do you think?

Pisscutter just is not a correct term for small deer or elk. The term is rooted in the idea that you see something so impressive or shocking that it actually interrupts your stream. Speaking for myself only, it takes something pretty impressive to do that.

There's nothing wrong with the term, just Robert's continual misuse of it.

I do not think that a word like "pisscutter" is what we should really be worrying about with our children!!!!! There are SOOOOO many other and much worse things out there that affect out childrens lifes!!!!! I thought I had seen all the PETTY fights on this sight, but to be fighting about this seems VERY silly!!!!!

As for Utards "shoving" beliefs on people as KTC said, I think it is somewhat true. It is mainly a case of how the shoving is done!!! As a Utard that has lived here most of my life, we are taught to "share" our beliefs. I think it is the problem with the way people "share" those beliefs that are the problem. Now, I am not some Mormon Holy Roller and I am not sheltered here in Utah. I travel and spend about 150 nights a year in a Motel. I am in an airplane every other week. I get to see and spend lots of time in other places with lots of great people. But we here in Utah have certain perceptions about us. I think it is up to us to change or impress people and not be the Utards everyone thinks about us. I have no problem "sharing" my beliefs if someone is interested, and have no problem listening to others beliefs, if fact I really enjoy it. It all depends on how that thought or belief is "shared" with you. I have said and done some stupid things on this site, but this thread has made me step back and think about what is really important in my life.

Is it fighting about "pisscutters" or is finding ways to enjoy the things that I LOVE! Hunting, Fishing and being in the Outdoors, with my freinds and family.

If this is the battle that we want to fight?????? (pisscutters) then I think we have started a losing battle already.

Just a thought!! Dont like the terminology dont participate in the dicussion. Why do people always blame something else when it comes to censorship when it is so simple to not listen or just turn it off????? No, they would rather use more wasted energy complaining!! Just because the term pisscutter is not in any dictionary does not mean it can not be used as a word especially when it has a definitive meaning on this SITE!!!!!!!
 
Geeze, after reading all the posts on this thread I have to admit I have tears in my eyes. Thanks for the good laugh guys.

I will add that I think my kids have heard way worse coming out of my mouth than the word 'pisscutter'. There was this one time my Ol' 76 Blazer was acting up and the usual 1 1/2 hour ride from Kamloops took 5 hours. ;) That was a fun day. :)

I'm pretty sure I can cuss with the best of you but I choose not to in front of my children. Most of you want us to police ourselves for the betterment of our hunting society until we ask you to modify your behavior.

I agree with the jist of what driftersifter is saying. We DO need to be careful about what 'image' we portray ourselves with. We need to improve our 'image' if we want to garner support from the average NON-HUNTER.

Having said that, as much as I enjoy disagreeing with bessy, there are many things we can do/say different to help our 'image', I dare say the term "pisscutter" is WAY down the list on 'offensive' actions/terms that need to be 'cleaned' up, IMHO.

Good Hell. I can't believe how serious this discussion has turned. Are we really concerned about kids hearing/saying pisscutter? I really hope not. I don't know about the rest of you, but I grew up with terms like pisscutter and many others (like stiped-ass ape, sour owl $hit, etc.) These terms bring color to the world and give precise descriptions of certain person, places and things. Loosen up.

Told me he went to the museum of natural history yesterday with his school class and mentioned that he saw a stuffed 5x5, a forked horn, and two splittails. I wonder how long it will be before his teacher calls . . . .

PRO - I think the average non-hunter has already made up their mind about hunting one way or the other. There is not much gray area on hunting anymore, you either are OK with it, or you are dead set again it. I love offering jerky to those I work with who are dead set again it.
 
Are the kids that will decide our fate as hunters already decided
on whether they willbe hunters nonhunters or anti hunters? I'm the only hunter in my school. Maybe I should quit promoting the sport and let the others win. It would be a whole lot easier on my career if I did.

drifter - with all due respect - their parents will make them or break them, not you. We DO absolutely need good teachers and I applaud you for your efforts in teaching and educating others about hunting.
 
Thats a good one! Drifsifster or whatever the hell your screen name is, let it go. Pisscutter? Take a trip to the play ground and i am sure that isn't the only word you will be hearing.
 
I don't believe that all kids are involved in a gang, that's not what I said, my point was that the language used on a website is not going to drive a kid from hunting as you stated in your original post.

How did this go from using a slang term that may or may not be considered profane or dirty to helping save the future of hunting?
 
Youth today are longing for, looking for attention from adults. Especially the one's who's home life is a wreck, or mom and dad are split up. We have to be a good influence around kids we do and don't know. My wife is a youth pastor and it's heart breaking to hear some of the life stories from these kids and what some have been through. The internet isn't helping kids much these days with all the access to anything and everything you would want to look at. We need to be careful what is said and shown around kids, and it's the parents / adults responsibility to govern this.

I've always wondered what the heck a pisscutter was!

I spend a lot of time with youth, and the kids who are great kids and fit in don't have partents that worry about it if their kid watches the simpsons, or drinks a caffinated drink, or if they see the word pisscutter on the internet. They worry about how they treat others, what time they're home, and the friends they have.
Don't worry about the little stuff, you'll ruin the kid. There around it every where they go. That doesn't make it right, but their going to have a long hard life if they get worked up every time they here someone say something like pisscutter. I'm guessing if you have kids driftersifter they're social misfits. You're not doing them any favors by being a control freak. Sooner or later they'll rebell. Lighten up and worry about the things that need worrying about.

If pisscutter is a bad word then what would I use instead of pisscutter. I don't think anything else would fit as nicely as pisscutter. I've said pisscutter so many times in the past month that I think it would be hard to keep from saying pisscutter. I guess I could try not to say pisscutter. If you don't say pisscutter but think pisscutter does it really count like if you had said pisscutter? If pisscutter isn't really a word then technically saying pisscutter wouldn't be a bad thing. Now I'm really confussed about the whole issue of pisscutter. Bess I really wish you wouldn't have said pisscutter in the first place. Ok I will really try hard to refrain from saying pisscutter anymore.

I have looked and looked, and I cant find a "Disney" insignia or a "RATED G" stamp anywhere on this forum!
Believe me, I am all for controlling the things that my kids are exposed to while in my home; that is my responibility as a parent! But to post a thread attacking the use of a word that one may not find particularly appropriate for GRADE SCHOOL CHILDREN on THIS forum I find STUPID AND MORONIC! (Two more words I wont let my kids say to each other by the way)
If this were a "Nickalodeon" forum I would see the point.

HIT THE ALERT BUTTON if you see something you find offensive and let the MODS handle it...if it doesnt go away, live with it...or go away yourself.
