Well this was the last weekend of the deer season for me in my unit here in Arizona. I hunted like heck on the first weekend looking and hoping for a monster to walk in front of me but that did not happen. After a week of planning out the next trip I headed back to the hills with my dad and my girlfriend. We started off at around 630 this morning and we had only started walking for only fifteen minutes we jumped some deer. We only saw the last few or so and they were all does. My dad told me to walk a little ahead of them to see what the first one was. I stepped in front of them adn there he was. I looked at my dad and said that he was a buck, not a big one but he was a buck. He said to take him. So I wentto shoulder my 7mm Mag and put a beed on him. I went to sqeeze the trigger and nothing. I was so excited that I had forgotten to put the weapon on fire. After cursing under my breath I put the weapon on fire and shot. At first it seemed like I had missed. It looked like it. I saw the buck jump but was not sure if the bullet found its mark. After the shot the buck took off and disappeared. My dad was all upste becasue he thought I had missed. I told him that we should go up to where he was when I shot him and see if I had hit him. We judged the shot at a little over 100 yards. When we got to where he was I saw blood. We followed the blood trail for a few yards then I looked up and saw that he only went 25 more yards after I hit him. When we got there and examined him I could see that the bullet was a heart shot due to the fact that the blodd was so red. I then looked at my dad and said "Told you I hit him," then I gave off a loud cheer.

It has been three years since my last deer that I have bagged and I am glad that the drought is over. He is not monster but on the last weekend I was just trying find meat not a trpohy. Hope you all liked the story and here are a few of the pictures that I took while hunting for the two weekends that I was out. Enjoy.

The area that I was hunting was right up against the Grand Canyon and the country was beautiful.

Congrats! Remember a trophy is a hunters own view point not someone elses. Your buck looks the same as my first couple of bucks.

I'd have shot him in a heartbeat. Especially on the last weekend. I would have gone small and stayed on the mountain...then gone back to camp and drank a few celebratory beers and had some fresh backstrap.
