Holy crap that's AMAZING! How did they get so BIG? What's the score on those guns? Can I touch them? How many inches around are those biceps, Slamdunk? Oooo...muscular forearms, too. Shirt off! Shirt off! Shirt off!!

Oh yeah...nice dead deer head.

LOL ;-) You do good work, Doug!

I think it turned out good. Don't worry to much about the comments, they can't all have gladiator bodes like US. :)

TTK, your need to relax girl... haha

LOL Browtine!

Seriously though, Doug, it looks great. What do I need to send you to do one for me? Just some sheds? What if they're older white ones?

LAST EDITED ON Nov-05-07 AT 01:29PM (MST) by browtine (moderator)[p]No worries, i don't mind the teasing i get about "my other hobby".

All i need is your set of sheds and some time and patience.
I can also mount reproduced antlers or antlers still attached to a skull plate. I do elk as well

You can PM me if you have any questions:)

LAST EDITED ON Nov-05-07 AT 01:30PM (MST)[p]I added the other photo to your post. Just curious, are they attached with a bondo or pin system?

And whats the deal with that slug of a buck?

Thanks Brow!!

It's both actually.
I grind the pedicle down flat and recess it. Then i place it over the skull "stump" like a cap.

Once i get the angle right and drilled into the antler, i pound in a threaded SS steel insert into the antler.
Then i use a SS steel round pin that goes up through the skull and screws into insert inside the antler, then attatch a screw at the bottom of the skull to pull everything tight.

Then i use "Epoxy Sculpt" to seal the joint and added strength.
Then paint the bondo to match the color on the skull:)

Oh ya...about the buck.

I can't tell ya much about him it's a clients, but he's around 230".

I am doing two others right now, both are just as big as that one if not bigger! I'm also doing a 404" bull.

Most of these are really old sheds that we had to refurbish and do a lot of work on. But as you can see....it's well worth the effort:7

And for Jenn...if you must know the mass measurement in the first pix....solid 19" cold ;-)

I got a HORRIBLE phone call last night from the owner of these sheds that i mounted for him.

It fell off the wall and broke all to pieces x(

OH NO!! All your hard work and the beautiful job you did and those beautiful antlers....oh man. Can the antlers be fixed at all??

Looking for some sheds in the pile tonight to send to you to do for someone. You do great work, Doug.

Jenn

Yes, it can be repaired thank God.
The antlers didn't break, they just got "knocked off" and the nose of the skull broke off, along with damage to the oak plauque it was mounted on.

No harm done there?

I have a set of Yukon moose horns that I have wanted to do something with for a long time. Do you/can you put them on a skull? They are pretty heavy. When we hook up to film your stuff I will bring them and you can take a look and see what you think.

It's always an adventure!!!

Sorry Jim, no swamp donkey skulls.
We COULD get one from Vandykes, but it won't have teeth.
They cut theirs flat on the bottom. :'(
