Tule Hunt at FHL

A good friend of mine's wife drew a Tule Elk Bull tag for the Fort Hunter Liggett hunt in CA. Has anyone on here ever taken part (tag holder or helper) in this hunt? Looking for some info on what to expect. I plan to go along and help out as one of the two non-tag holders allowed to accompany her.

I had the archery bull tag way back in 2006. There were a lot of bulls and great rutting activity then. You may see a lot of broken antlers, and Tules are a lot smaller than rocky mt elk. But its a fun hunt and will see bulls. If you haven't hunted military installations you have to get used to the regulations- checking in/out, staying only in your area, etc.

I used to hunt FHL for deer,pigs and birds. Saw lots of elk and helped on a couple hunts. Ditto what above post says,fun if you stay within limits. Not fun if you mess up on a Milt/Inst.
But a great place to hunt,used to be. Get a pig tag....
Took a 350 boar once.
