LAST EDITED ON Nov-09-07 AT 12:16PM (MST)[p]I hunted the late archery season in January 07 and didn't shoot a deer but enjoyed my hunt. I saw a couple respectable bucks on that trip, so I put in for the rifle tag and drew. I was wondering if there is a law about riding any vehicle "cross country"? I've never seen so many quads and trucks in my entire life. Guys were driving the roads non stop and driving cross country and even through the washes. It was discouraging to say the least. The most common pratice was to have a buddy drive the Ranger and the hunter stand up or on top of the vehicle to get a better view and or shot at whatever they spooked. I glassed up a few other hunters "hunting" on foot but the vast majority of these people drove their quads all over the place with rifle at the ready. Most of them were dressed in street clothes. I ended up having an opportunity at several small bucks despite the heat and staggering amounts of quad road hunters. Is this the norm, or maybe a coincidence? I wonder if they hunt the same way with the muzzle loader too. I just can't see the satisfaction in shooting a buck off a quad. Where is the hunt in that?

Seems more and more common. I don't own one never did and don't have plans for one. My observation is that it actually keeps most hunters who use them out of the back country. You didn't say what part of Arizona you were hunting.

"Most of them were dressed in street clothes."

As opposed to "mountain clothes" or "desert clothes" or "huntin clothes" or just fully engulfed in camo?

At least they was dressed.

I meant they were not wearing camo.

Me like it when they drive the roads that way thier nowhere near me.

Were the guys not wearing camo hunting at all? Could be just out riding.

I saw some of those guys too. Dirt bikes and full motocross gear. There were guys with rifles in jeans and t shirts.?

It happens everywhere. I hunt in "street clothes" sometimes. But don't worry, I don't ride a quad.

It's Bush's fault!!!
