I had the muzzy elk tag in 2012. Shot a bull that ended up gross scoring 351. I deer hunt the same area on the muzzleloader hunt and always run into bulls. It's an easy hunt in my opinion on a 320 class bull. You could get bigger but it will take a little luck and tonz of scouting. I spent nearly 40 days on the unit scouting and arrived 3 days before the hunt started, found the bull I wanted and shot him opening day. What's your expectations?

Expectations are about what you described SHOOT.

I got a buddy in the party that should pull his tag this
Year. I'm probably a couple years out on a rifle tag so
I was thinking of getting it done this year or next with
Either a late or muzzy tag.

What about you ELKASS, you finally gonna claim the 500 inches
Of bone the state owes ya??? You gotta have like 38 bonus points.

Break out the muscle milk CAT. It's our year.

CAT, are you kidding me?? You know which state
We're in. You know the tag pimps aren't coming
Up with a elk plan that lowers age objective.

Tried to tell ya over a decade ago this is where we'd
End up.

Killing cows, MOTL hunts, anything but big stinkies
For a couple of pukes like us.

Good luck brother.

I've been meaning to reply to this wiley, just kept forgetting. It's a high pressure fun hunt. LOTS OF PEOPLE....near as I can tell, around 8-10% of the successful hunters harvest a 340"+ bull, so if you are in it for that type of animal well the odds should tell the story...lots of bulls, most MOTL, lots of action most of it heartbreaking.

400+ (total animals, not antler inches) LE bulls were killed on the Wasatch last year between the 4 hunts. On the muzzy hunt it was a 63% success rate for harvest with the average hunter spending 5 days in the field.

My brother had the tag this year and he shot a 326 bull if I remember correctly. I wasn't there when it got scored. This was the biggest bull we saw. One other may have been a little bit bigger but never got closer than about 1500-2000 yards so tough to really tell. He harvested it on 5th day of the hunt. We hunted hard, saw a good amount of elk, and had an absolute blast! It will be a hunt I remember forever. My other brother should draw the tag this year and I've already got it marked on my calendar.

Hello WW.

I grew up on this unit and I have been involved in many hunts on this unit. from Archery to the late. People I have helped as well as I have killed great bulls on this unit.

you should be able to kill a 320 bull no problem, with some scouting and work you should be able to get a larger bull than that.

I should have the rifle tag again this year, if you want I will give you some places to start and can even go do some scouting with you.

Thanks for the advice men.

I've got a buddy I've bowhunted with for
Almost the last 20 years. He should draw
The rifle tag this year. I think I'm gonna go
The good buddy route and apply for the any
Weapon tag this year and plan on helping on his
Hunt.

Next year I'm cashing out. Hopefully a few of
Y'all will be willing to let me pick your brains a bit
On the unit south of I-40. I know the north side pretty
Well and would be willing to trade info there.

Thanks again.

Thanks DC, I'm more worried about finding the CAT
a 500 incher.

If he has to settle for anything 475 or less after 40
plus years of applying it's gonna get fugly up in here.

Bess won't break the 250" mark cause he never leaves the freakin PUTER!!!

Wiley, have fun on the up coming hunt keep in mind the number of cow tags that have been offered the last 4 years running before you pull the trigger on a Wasatch rifle tag.....We will start to see the effects of those on the overall bull population in the next couple years. This could have quite an effect on the hunters for the next 5-6 years.

Berry, couldn't agree more kinda why I was
Thinking about cashing out this year. Think
Point creep sucks?? Factor in these units finally
Getting hunted down to age objective, cow slaughters
And CAT's motl hunts. Tags are fixing to dry the hell
Up quick.

CAT may be in for another 30 year wait.

Me? I'm cashing in next year.

Don't sweat the "small stuff" boys.

Have tapes, will travel!

Outfitter's tape.

Rarely had a bull tape out at under 365", most bigger.

I had Muley73 pick up a container of these in China 7 or 8 years ago, on one of his trips to the treed-mill factors over there. They've been a big hit with the guide and outfitters folks, we've reordered twice. We only charge $412.00 each, can't keep'em in stock. Darnest thing, but they say when price matches value, products will sell themselves. I believe it.

Never had a client complaint in 8 years. You know, if it ever comes up, we just hav'em to blame it on junk made in China. ;-)

Can you tell which is our best seller?
