I drew a Wasatch Bull Archery permit this year and have hunted spike/cows successfully for several years west of current creek reservoir, north of the racetrack. Ive scouted a bit this year and havent run in to any nice bulls in my normal area. Would any of you guys be willing to suggest another area close to this where I could do some scouting over the next couple weekends? I dont need you to put me on one but would like to expand my options. I appreciate the input.

I'll second what Wileywapati said. The bulls will show up in that area in the next couple weeks. I scouted that area every week back in 2012 and did not see any big bulls until the end of July/ first week of August. If you know the area well just stay there. Hunt water early and as the hunt progresses they will begin to bugle. At that point they are easier to locate. Once they start bugling move in on them. Good luck, post pics when ya get one.

Many of the areas we hunt never have big bulls in them until late August/early September, so scouting is basically useless during the summer in those areas unless you just want to learn the lay of the land, etc. If the bulls have been in your areas during the rut in past years, it is highly likely that they will be back again this year.

Had a great trip down last weekend! Scouted and hung a couple stands for my son to hunt. Saw over 40 elk in one spot and a crap load of does everywhere. Rode on over towards CC reservoir and saw a super nice bull moose chowin down in the swamp off of the main rd from Co-op creek.
