Something Wrong With This Picture?

Here are some pictures of a buck we saw this year.

Although he is only a 3 point, I still like him because he was pretty heavy, has good eye guards, and some trash on his left side.

The characteristics of his antlers are not what is strange with this picture however. Can anybody notice anything different from most other mule deer?

Bingo! Nice call bobcats. I've become so conditioned to seeing the black tip in the middle of the white rump....this definitely made me take a double take.

I have no idea where his black tip ended up? Any ideas guys? Did he just not grow a "regular tail", if there is such a thing?

Or do you think he could have gotten it caught on a barb wire fence?

How about swiped off by a cougar or a pack of rabid coyotes?

Maybe chewed off by a rodent when he was sleeping?

Or, better yet, maybe it was shot off by a hunter?

I would think something like that maight be hereditary (SP?) Are there any other deer either Bucks or Does that have the same thing? Sounds like you need to spend some more time in the woods investigating for us :)

LAST EDITED ON Dec-12-07 AT 09:31AM (MST)[p]My guess is it froze off. That big buck(225) that was hit on Baccus hwy lasytyear also had only 3-4 inches of tail.

It also looks like his left beam is broken.

Trash? I see one two inch sticker on the left side, I see what looks like a short front beam, is the beam broken?

THE ONLY bobcat THAT KNOWS ALOT OF YOU HAVE HAD THIS IMAGE IN YOUR PEA BRAIN BUT DUE TO POOR SHOOTING TACTICS I'M STILL KICKIN!!!

You guys have never played take the tail off a big ol buck. Its good practice for stalking.
Find a buck bedded and see how close to it you can get before you get busted.
The game changed when there was never a winner because everyone was getting there. So we changed the rules to who could cut the most off won the game. Its ranked on the G&C record books.
G&C stands for "Grab and Cut". Been around for years.
