Has anyone started to heard any bugles of significance?
I would think with the weather they would be starting soon to call.

I've been on the manti the last two weekends. I've heard some very short weak bugles from little rag horns. All the big bulls I've seen are not bugling at all really and have no interest in the cows yet. All the shooter bulls I've seen are hanging out alone or with other bulls but no cows. I'm really hoping they start bugling soon as I've got an archery big bull tag.

This past weekend on the Manti, I watched a 5 point bull chasing a cow all over the mountain. He was all muddy from wallowing so he is fired up, but I never heard him bugle. No competition yet so he was quietly doing his thing.

All the bulls I have been seeing are still in bachelor herds. I have heard a few short bugles but very weak. The cows are still in very big herds ready for bulls to get in there. I always plan on better calling after labor day when the hordes of people are done driving up and down every canyon. We are getting close and this cooler weather certainly helps. Good luck!

Full bugles and chuckles from several bulls in CO last weekend. Same time and place as last year and the year before. Status quo.

We have heard a few bulls bugling back and forth to each other, but the bulls were still together in bachelor herds.

A buddy and me were on the manti chasin cows and spikes and we had bulls bugling all around us, got into some different herds and they all had a herd bull that was pretty good! I could bugle and theyd bugle right back. One 330 bull, a 340ish and a 360+

Just spent the week down on Co-op creek and didnt hear a peep! Coyotes were sure fired up and yappin thou.

I was in the rattlesnakes here in Wyoming and watched a herd bull bugle his brains out while chasing cows. Some of the smaller satellite bulls could care less and never bugled the entire 30 minutes I watched the herd.

On the Cache they have started. I went on a horse ride to check a spot and there were several bulls buggling until 9:30 in the morning.

Watched 2 herd bulls, half dozen satellites, and about 30 cows carrying on Friday morning. Big bulls were bugling but not the little guys yet.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-04-14 AT 07:09AM (MST)[p]I just returned from Wyo and the bulls were bugling pretty well on cooler days when the wind wasn't blowing 20 to 40 mph! On a rainy day they bugled most of the morning. One cool evening when the wind wasn't blowing the bulls were bugling pretty much nonstop. There was 0 calling on warmer days and/or when the wind was howling. Lots of wallow activity and torn up trees. All the larger groups of cows I saw had dominate bulls filtering through and smelling cows. I didn't see much aggressive bull activity yet though. I saw quite a few single bulls that responded to calls but seemed more of a social calling deal. It will be interesting to see what happens with the bigger moon the next couple weeks.

They'll start to get serious in about a week or so....just like last yr and the yr b4 and......due to photoperiodism.

I had numerous bulls bugling for me in southern Utah on August 25th. A cold snap hit the area and they got going for a day then quieted down a little after that.

Had buddies in a general unit opening week said it was pretty quiet. Other buddies in a Le unit and said they were talkin but not reactin. 1 more week!
