Is that the same one they have been looking at for the past couple a years above Wenatchee? I never saw it but heard of one. Is it up H.L.R.?
Mike Henne

The last pic: They always say he looks bigger going away.

The first pic: There is NO deniing it! Definetly a wide dude.

haha.. I have seen that buck as well!!! everybody in the valley has seen that buck!!! he is soo old news.. I have pics from 3 or 4 years ago to present of that same buck... he's a nice one.. its a shame me nor anybody else I know has been able to harvest him.. oh well.. next year I guess

"everybody in the valley has seen that buck!!! he is soo old news.."

And your point is? He is not such old news to us here on MM. I would say welcome to the board, but kind of a rude start, don't you think?

By the way, nice buck! Thanks for sharing.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-15-07 AT 11:24AM (MST)[p]Right on, love seeing Washington bucks.

I seen one up near Loomis a couple years ago that was a twin to that buck. It seems like you just can't have it all, you get width or mass, rarely do we get both.

Don't get me wrong, that would still be one cool buck to harvest.

Coon

Hey Slider nice buck, but could you find one with a little more mass for when I get drawn next year. Just kidding; that thing is a slammer.

Chris

If that is the H.L.R. buck then he has to be older than the hills! I thought that buck died years ago. He used to be a 4x4 withought the extra eyeguard if I remember right. He was 36inches back then. Any guesses?

ummm.. trust me.. he is 40 + inches.... he is a big buck... and yes he used to be the h.l.r. buck but he is not in that area anymore... those are old pics of him... me and my buddy have seen him this year and he is very impressive... whoever slider is doesn't know where he is right now.... cuz he doesn't look like that right now... and I live in wenatchee in the h.l.r area... and he is more over twards #2... haha... anyways.. yeah

Troll-n????????????? Pretty brave for three posts.

If huntin is a sport.....Well your lookin at an athlete!

WAMuleytaker That is NOT the HLR Buck. He has NOT been seen for a COUPLE YEARS!!! I took these photos 2 Days ago!!!

If that was the HLR buck it would make him 13/14 years old! Probably a little past his prime. :) In the pic Hunt4 posted he was probably 10 and real close to 40 inches wide.

-Lowedog

Ya lowedog i think you and me were parked looking at him like 4 or 5 years ago!!!

I hope no one confuses you with WaMuleytaker, wamuleyhunter. You might get shot as a mistake in identity. : ) Not sure if it matters what hill he is standing on. GREAT BUCK!

You must be "mourning" not having a tag for him!

Thanks for sharing.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-17-07 AT 08:11PM (MST)[p]There was a buck taken off the Colville Reservation that is a 7x7 and 38" inside spread, I believe with a 40"+ spread. I have only seen the picture once but have yet found someone to send it to me. Once I do I will share it with all of you. The buck is super heavy!!! Has at least 10-9" bases. By far the biggest buck I have seen on monstermuleys or my life. This is not a lie.

Hey now, please don't take that away from the hunter, being a Colville Native I dont appreciate people taking away from any native just because of the fact that people call it a "closed" area. With over 9,000 enrolled members there are plenty of people hunting. I run into over 10 people hunting each time I go out. I got a buck last year, a 6x4 (30") and a 7x5 (32") the year before and people still give me crap because I shot it on the rez. I know for a fact that the deer on the reservation are 10x smarter than the ones off the reservation. I have gone out with friends who hunt off the reservation and the deer just stand there...Either way you still have to hunt the animal...correct? Also I don't mean to sound like I'm coming off rude but it just gets to me I suppose. Also if you have the pics and aren't too offended of my post could you send me the pictures of both of the bucks to [email protected] Thanks.

you guys all have me wrong... I'm not trashin on anybody I was just saying that if that is the h.l.r. buck he is old news to everybody that knows about him... and sorry if you aren't from wenatchee washington... and slider... I think the buck you have pics of is at the top of springwater street if I'm not mistaken.... cuz I have pics of the same buck from up there... or one that looks the same... I'll get pics up..

I have seen a picture of the 40'' Colville buck. He is all of 40'', very heavy and very unique. I know of the guy who shot it and he hunts hard!

Bone- i was thinking the same thing. I hope nobody gets me confused. :(

Slider thanks for the pictures man. and i would love to see this colville bucks!!! they sounds amazing.

Post the stinkin big bucks, lets see them. All this anti-Indian stuff is going to come up whenever this is brought up.

Colville...I know Joe Peone (For those who don't know he is in charge of the Colville Fish and Game) and he is a pretty serious hunter also. He would like to see some positive long term changes, but the Council over rides him on a lot of things. You have it great to hunt the rez, and if you hunt hard like you say 30" bucks and 350 bulls are totally possible. I don't like racial comments either and have no use for them. Derogatory comments are helpful in emphasizing a persons displeasure or dislike. I have a call in for permission to post, and he normally gets back to me after he gets off work. Not my buck, and it came off from a closed area, so if he says yes I will get it posted.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-18-07 AT 03:50PM (MST)[p]Alright, thank you canhunter, appreciate it. It would be awesome to see the buck again. I know Joe Peone too and have hunted with him. His family are all hard hunters. I am hopefully going to back to work for him soon. I worked for Fish and Wildlife last year on the UCSRB (Upper Columbia Salmon Recovery Board) to help with the new hatchery going in. Thanks again. Also I would like to share pics with you canhunter if you have any bucks you would like to show off, thanks again.

These are not the bucks canhunter is talking about, just some of mine and my hunting partner, thanks for looking.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-18-07 AT 03:57PM (MST)[p]Haha I said he "isnt" on his way down, meaning he is still getting bigger. Anyone in their rightful mind would shoot that buck. When bucks getting older and bigger and start on their way down they get tons of mass and typically get smaller. This buck is the opposite of that. They usually will get tons of mass around their bases, but yes a lot of this is hard to tell from the pics, great buck though again.

It would seem that it is. I would have to know the area it was shot in to know for sure. If it was shot along the river area then I would have to say yes. I have hunted hard to try to find his sons but I have yet to find any. That is an awesome buck, bigger than mine! Is that your buck or a friends? Whoever it is, nice job!

LAST EDITED ON Dec-18-07 AT 05:02PM (MST)[p]Oh I see, man I didn't know they grew like that over there. If it were allowed I would take people like yourself on my reservation to shoot a big toad. I have gave the idea to our F&W Director to give out hunts for a price. Not a lot of tags but for a resonable price and then just hire some guides. It would be good management and give other people a chance to hunt nice big bucks. I think it would benefit everyone. The left side kicker on the picture of that buck you showed looks like it could be similar to the one on mines left side. Do you know who killed that buck, I want to see if I know them. Do you know Buzz Labret? (might be wrong spelling)

I have a picture of those horns on my desk. A friend of mine gave me last fall. I have heard several stories, on weather it was shot or road kill?? Anyway, it's an awesome buck! I heard it came from the Omak Creek area?

From what I was just told it was hit by a car near the Summit. Nice buck though, where are you from duckman?

Alright, just checking im from over the by nespelem/coulee area. Have you heard of any other big bucks being taken besides that 40" buck? And his other 30" one.

I heard of one pushing 30'' from the Conconully area. I help a kid opening day with a nice 26'' 4x5. I have a 4x4 that's pushing 30'' that's been seen around the new home we are building. I have'nt seen him since early Sept., but I talked to a guy that saw him in my driveway the monday after Thanksgiving. So he' still out there!

Good, made it through hunting season! I have only seen one thats between 30-33" that is a 6x7, we had him on like this little knob point by swailla basin but he went exactly where I didnt want him to go and we had to watch helplessly as he ran out of shooting range and we didn't want to spook him so we didnt take a bad 400 yard shot. We shot a 3x3 that is 24" wide that was running with him, he made this 3 points body look small and this 3 point had a huge body. Have you gotten any pictures of that big 4x4 running around your place? Sounds like a nice typical

Joe was the one that shot the big 40 incher you aretalking about? he is very much a hard hunter and has killed some incredible animals. I have a shoebox full somewhere of pictures of his bucks. He has one hell of a trophy wall. I respect him very much unlike most hunters on the Rez. I lived in Inchelium for sometime and used to go to church with Joe. HE I AM JEALOUS of. I would love his opputunity. He utilizes or gives away all of his game. I haven't talked to him in sometime and wondered how his hunting was going. He kind of slowed down in order to get his boys into the action. Its good to hear he is still active in the Fish and game over there. LOTS of triba politics as you know. I half expected him to turn the place into the Jicarilla. Sorry fo the misunderstanding Colvillentive, I thought you were calling me racist. the coyote comment was out of line from the other guy.I'm glad to hear you are not one of the "regulars" over there. Congrats on some great bucks.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-19-07 AT 07:42PM (MST)[p]Thank you boneaddict, I really appreciate that. Joe is an awesome guy, loved working with him. I hope to get back on with Fish and Wildlife soon, after living in Spokane for some time, it was a great experience. He recently showed me pics of a 9x12 Elk he had on a trail camera in velvet (biggest elk I have ever seen), if I had his permission I would show the pics, but I could maybe send to some people in a PM message. His boys have got some huge bucks! One of which scored I believe 236 net! I have seen the pics, awesome buck, they are all becoming great hunters too. I wish some more people would post their bucks on here from everywhere in WA, just want to see the state get a name for itself. Everyone talks about Utah, Colorado, Nevada, and ARIZONA and WA never gets its recognition. If anyone wants to post their bucks on here for me to look at I would appreciate it, just like looking at pictures thats all. Oh yeah and also no boneaddict Joe did not shoot the 40" buck, it was another guy with the last name Marchand.

Well, you just narrowed it down to 300 guys. : ) I'll dig, I think I have a picture or two of Joes 38 incher non typ he got around 93.

Well his full name is Brett Marchand. Yeah I have seen that 38" non typical, is it the one with the giant kicker on it?

Yes, he shot it early season, so its white with the velvet stripped. I don't know if he mounted it or not.

Yeah he had it mounted but all of his 8 chest mounts and like 40 or 30 europeon mounts burned up in his shed in a fire they had at his place he said. He showed me pictures, nice buck, kinda skinny horned but still nice.

Sorry, we have only been using this post because no one has used it for days. Except us.

well no sign of the 40" since earlier this week... but I can tell you is my buddy and I have been watching some deer at the top of springwater st. in wenatchee and there is a 4x4 that is extremely heavy and he has some kickers off the side, then there are probly 8 or 9 3 points that anybody on here would shoot in a heart beat during general season without hesitation or wondering if he had a 3rd point... but the real excitement up there is that there is a 2x3 that has to be 30"+ up there that we think is an offspring to the 40"... but who knows... go look for yourself!!!! sorry all you guys from okanogan don't get the chance to see him but its all good... we don't want you rez. boys getting jealous of our FREE roaming deer... ;)

Yeah you guys wouldnt want to hunt any of our caged up deer, its pretty easy when they just sit in pens and you can pick and choose of which one you want to shoot.
