Sorry about that guys. I asked Reaper to post the pics for me, the deer pic in the "gallery" section and the truck in the "hunting rigs" post. I must have been unclear to him where I wanted them. Thanks though Reaper, I appreciate the help.

The elk on the roof is actually in game bags they are just dirty from that red Montana dust, making them close to the color of the elk. Didnt get any fingers but got lots of thumbs up.

i would have given you two thumbs up just last year though i had no place to put my elk so i left it on top of my fourwheeler definetly not trying to show off a spike but i was amazed at all the people flipping me off, unless it was from my driving

was there no room in the Excursion for your meat? I can see having to put heads/racks other places, but take care of that meat for pete's sake!!

I'm VERY picky about caring for my game meat - hate to see it get the road grime/slime all over good meat. Where did you drive it home to from MT?

Good job huntnphool.

You guys are truly amazing? No room in the Excursion for meat? I would not stick that stinking bloody mess in my 50k vehicle for nothing. Does anyone do anything right? Did he not say the meat was in game bags? I sure hope you killed it in one shot, lit a candle and said a prayer, and for hell's sakes you had better have wore your orange!

lol ktc i wasnt saying anything like that. i could care less how he got it home and i wouldnt throw it in my wifes excursion either. just reminds me of how i got my elk home last year in the back of my truck was my fourwheeler with elk on top, looked a lot like his and wanted to know if he got flipped off like me, now settle down and go have a beer

LAST EDITED ON Dec-16-07 AT 06:06PM (MST)[p]Sorry about the posts, I didn't understand but at least they are posted haha. That is a great buck!!!

Congrats on the critters. Nice field shot of your buck. As for your transport methods, looks fine to me. Apparently cool weather and meat protected with game bags.

cream, if the fingers were flying in MT, I wouldn't doubt the four-wheeler might have had something to do with the migration of birds that followed you home.

Now thats funny right there ktc. No guys, I have nice thick canvas bags that kept the meat nice and clean, and with the near zero degree temps it was plenty cold too. The Excursion had all our gear in it and the wrath of my wife would have been far worse than any criticism I could get on here. The deer was taken on day one in SE Montana and on the way home we stopped in SW Montana and got lucky finding the bull, about 12 hours later.

cream,

That comment I made was not toward your post.....

I think phool did just fine transporting and taking care of the meat. Game bags more than did their job. No way would I stick a dead elk in my new truck! Ha! phool would have been puking within the first 5 minutes.;-)

my dad did that with my first two point in the back of our old suburban barf! didnt know if id be hunting ever again. atleast he put a blue tarp down. didnt help that he almost rolled the suburban either

LOL...

All good KTC - I can take it just as much as dish it!

If you must ask - this year, UT General Bull -yes 1 shot, yes orange on, no candle, yes prayer -thanked the lord for my harvest and no I'm not a religious fanatic, just grateful for what I'm given by the good lord. Quartered and packed out on my back, hung quarters overnight in sub zero temps, wrapped in game bags, loaded in the truck or enclosed trailer and transported home to the butcher's locker.

Nice buck! good job in the canvas bags for transport - thought it looked like cheese cloth only. We all do things differently and my way is surely not always the only way or the best way!

Happy huntin' !
