Glasses up this bull this morning. To bad somebody didn't find him. P.M. me if this might be your bull. You can tell me where you lost it and I'll tell you if its close.

Maybe contact DWR? If someone reported it, they might be able to put you in contact with the unlucky hunter.

Hope someone can put a tag on that bull.

Did you go up to it? Any chance it was gored by another bull?

I'm just seeing that gash on his belly and thought maybe the other hole was maybe antler caused?????

"That's a special feeling, Lloyd"

Already, the number of PM's sent is pretty sad. Hate to think of how many bulls are wounded each year. It happens, but man...

X2... Sad

LAST EDITED ON Sep-24-14 AT 07:40PM (MST)[p]My guess is they are still in the area. No way that is more than a couple days old. Especially if you can see the blood that clearly. I would also consider the possibility of it being from another bull.

I was hunting south east of Strawberry Reservoir. The bull would have probably been east of Willow creek across for Center Canyon. Who know how far he went and how many days he lived. Might still have the arrow in him. Never found the arrow but tracked the blood trail for over a mile. First kill with a bow, last half hour of last day of archery and I take a stupid shot at the neck, right side.

I have it on video but can't tell where the arrow hit.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-25-14 AT 08:24AM (MST)[p]Sounds like you hit where you were aiming, in the neck. I am guessing your bull is still alive unless he lost tons of blood.

That back gash sure looks like he was gored, I guess it could be that the broadhead came out right there and the arrow was stuck in him and created that cut. It also kind of looks like another slice is taken out of him in the front shoulder (I guess that could be a shadow).

Are all of these PM's being sent meaning that everyone of these guys have lost a bull? Please tell me this isnt true!!

Just went down and checked out the bull today. Looked like somebody nailed right in the hind quarter with a rifle. Clearly a rifle shot. Looks like the bull made it to some water then just hung out till it died. To bad.

Either that or some want antlers they don't have rights to. Either way, it's not good.

Just got back to slc and a buddy told me about this forum after I updated him on our hunt. My brother shot at a 6x6 110+ yards muzzleloading yesterday morning in the current creek-red creek area. Fairly close to Raspberry Knoll. It went down on its front knees and he kept dropping his primer and couldn't get a shot off again. We tracked it but it looked like it went onto private Little Red Creek CWMU. 801_643_6775

That's a pile of responses for a wounded 6 point from people who frequent this site. One can only fathom how many are out there from people that don't frequent this site or perhaps shot a larger or smaller bull. Yikes! That's just sickening. I know it happens. But no idea this much an for one area! One things for sure the crows are eating like kings.

I posted a couple years ago about finding a dead bull on an archery hunt in az. I literally had about 20 Pms from people who lost a bull in that particular unit. Never did find the right person either. I was shocked at how many people contacted me.

Cletus,

It happens in every state not just Utah, I personally know of many cases in Idaho, and one day watched a group of Muzzeloader hunters wound and not retrieve 5 cow elk. Also my father in law shot an elk with a bow a couple years ago in Idaho and we found a rifle slug in it when we processed it.

Its sad and something no one wants to happen, but if you hunt long enough, Bow, Rifle or Muzzeloader its going to happen to you too reguardless of the weapon.

So what is the blood on the neck and the gash in the gut from?

I watched a guy shoot and kill three bucks one evening in a basin, he kept walking up the drainage and shooting the next buck he came to. It took me an hour to catch up to him (they had a quad at the bottom) and ask him what the heck was going on and he didn't believe me that he shot 3 deer, he said he shot at the same deer 3 times. I didn't know what to say to him to make him believe me. I was sitting up above the basin all day waiting on the biggest buck in the group to get up and I watched buck after buck get shot and go down (he thought he missed or was just finishing the buck off).

Your user name Longrange banging..

To many people see these TV shows about long range shooting from 500- to 1,000 yards.
It's not good...
Not good at all and should not be done by most of us hunters.
Long range shooting at big game by rifle, muzzy or bow hunters leads to too many lost animals.

Ducks. That's a great generalized assumption, but please remember that all of us long range shooters that can hit the moon, if we don't see it drop in the scope it's clearly a miss! An I refuse to shoot at animals over 1 1/2 miles away. But in all honesty, if I read all the stories correctly most shots were relatively close. Your gonna need another theory on this particular thread. Those comments above we're truly jokes, besides everyone on this site knows duck hunters send more ducks an geese away packing steel then an entire army regiment does. Cheers

So?

All the Bucks looked Identical?

I think He's a Professional Liar/Thief!

Hope you got his LowLife Ass Turned in?

Friend of mine hunting the limited entry up in Currant creek ridge area. North of the lake . He was a little south off currant creek pass and west of low pass creek. Thought he hit it but there was no sign of blood we searched for a long time up and down left and right and nothing. was that the area the bull was in?
