Wondering if anybody has any info or experience with units-18 or 39 in Colorado? Early Sept. Muzzy hunt in the High country. I know its nasty country, thats just fine by me. Is there a chance at big bucks? and what about people? Thanks for any info.

18 is easier to draw than 39. Quality is probably better for deer and definately elk in 39. Since it is harder to draw, there are fewer hunters in 39. That being said, there are still good deer and elk in 18 if you are willing to get off the roads. It all depends on how many pref. points you have. Good luck on your decision.

I hunted GMU 18 about 10 years ago ,Troublesom Basin area.I was packed in to a drop camp .We saw a few elk and 2-3 deer, nothing to bragg about, pretty area, good hunt, but no animals taken.

I have hunted Elk in 18, I have seen only 5-8 deer in all my time hunting and scouting for elk :-( One was a buck, it had a nice rack, couldn't tell how big just a flash through the timber.
Never hunted deer just didn't think it was worth my time, there may be more in other areas from where I hunt elk but havent even seen deer driving in and out along the roads.
