Rumor has it this last one was allowed to be taken by a local resident with his bow on some sort of depredation tag. Don't know if that's true or not, but it is definitely a pig.
Enjoy,

P.S. There are no big deer in Montana

Nice bucks .I can just hear the story of that last buck.

I was glassing and glassing.Nothing found so I cross the street from the swimming pool park to my grandmamas houe.As I'm walking into the back yard, I turn and there , across grandmamas back porch on the other side of the swing set behind Doc Earls kids trampoline I spot this great mammoth muley. He doesn't even know I'm there as he is paying attention to my little cousin Bobby and Doc Earls sons' Jimmy and Toby playing with a nerf football. The stalk is on, I climb up onto the porch , the wooden floor creeks a little, the buck'ears focus back, I stand still. My movement is drowned out my my deaf grandmamas tv turned up pretty loud, thank you Dr. Phil.I continue on, I reach the end of the porch and from there I'm able to thread the needle from across the yard, about 30 yards give or take a broken down car and a patio set.I holler out in excitement but qiuckly realize the buck is barely hit, he runs out into a road and THANKFULLY it's trash day , the trashdump truck plows into the back end of my buck , breaking his back, he's not dead yet . but my trusty old dog Buckwheat and his girlfriend Maybell jump onto the buck and go for the throat.I'm sure glad I let Buckwheat watch all those wolve documentarys, he knew exactly what to do.....Anyhow , that's it and now I have my very best SCI BOWKILLED MULEY BUCK.I sure hope I can get this tag again....Oral....

Yes, it's Helena, Montana. You guys are quick. Mostly I just wanted to post the pics for everybody to see.
The story posted is pretty funny, and ironically enough the pictures of the big non-typical in velvet were taken from (or very close to) my grandmother's porch. Like I said, the neighbor supposedly got a depredation tag from the FWP and shot it a couple weeks after this photo was taken. The story sounded a little funny to me as I was also told that he shot it in late August (before the bow season). I honestly don't know if there is any truth to the rumor, but I proobably would have shot it if they gave me the tag.
I have heard of another HUGE typical that roams around near Rodney Street, but haven't seen any footage of him. It may be the same buck as the biggest typical in velvet in the photos above. Those pics were taken on about July 11, 2006.
A lot of people don't like having all the deer in town. I think its great. I drive my wife nuts all the time going around the block to get just one more look at different bucks. They are fun to see.
So, the posted story brings up a good question. This neighbor guy is given a depredation tag for this buck that kept frequenting his yard. He shot the deer. Would Boone and Crockett or Pope and Young except the nearly tame deer into their books? SCI? Should they?
Enjoy the pics,
Soup

The Fish and Game is a COMPLETE failure. Would you let your kids outside to play??? They will sit on their hands until someone gets hurt by a rutty pissed off buck and then they will be surprised. Nice work boys. Love the pics though. Just not as WILD as I like.
