I just spent the last week chasing bulls on the late with a couple of good friends Zach and Riley Staley. They both drew the same unit for late bulls here in Nevada. The weather was very friendly to us for a late November hunt and was a little warmer than we would have liked. We spent a lot of time hiking to vantage points and glassing for hours at a time. We seen 10-20 bulls a day and looked over a ton of country. The largest bull we seen was a solid 350-360 long tined bull on opening morning but he slipped into some thick cedars before we could make a play.

Tuesday afternoon we decided to change locations and glass up some some different scenery. Within minutes of stopping to glass Riley spotted a great looking white horned bull and he new instantly he wanted to make a stalk on him. We made a game plan and we were off. It took 45 minutes to get in position which included a little cliff maneuvering and rock climbing but we made it to the top. The bull was bedded with his nose in the dirt taking a nap at 254 yards. With 2 well placed shots Riley's 1st bull was down. His bull had extremely white antlers and even had a few patches of velvet still attached. It took another hour to hike up to the bull and another 3 to break him down and get him off the mountain but it was well worth it seeing the big grin Riley had on his face.
The next morning once again found us glassing the same canyon we had been in the day before. 30 minutes after sun up we had a good bull spotted and Zach and Riley were heading in after him. Another 30 minutes went by when Riley told us they were within 400 yards and Zach was going to shoot. I was watching through my spotter when the 1st shot missed. The bull ran down hill into the trees and I figured he was swallowed up for the rest of the day when a 2nd shot rang out followed by whoops and hollering. Apparently the bull had run down towards Zach and Riley and gave Zach a 30-40 yard broadside shot. 2 more follow up shots were needed and Zach's 1st bull was down. Zach's bull had much darker antlers for living in the same canyon as Riley's bull. It was a great trip and I am grateful for the opportunity to hunt these beautiful animals.
