This kind of thing makes me sick. Somebody knows something, and hopefully will come forward. I don't care what size of a buck it was it is still crime and the people need to be held accountable. Hope they catch em.

It is great that they reward the guys that report the crime but they don't do nearly enough to the scum that poached the animal.

Just curious what this scumbag would get in the way of punishment from Utah if caught?

Texas has stiffened up its penalties. Not only do they have to pay the fines and possible jail time for poaching, but also have to pay for the replacement cost of the deer. It's made my job of watching for poachers where I hunt a lot simpler. Just not many people are willing to risk it.

This year a guy poached a 218 non-typical whitetail here in the Texas panhandle. He faces a $10,000 fine and up to 12 months in jail. On top of that he has to pay for the replacement cost of the deer. Texas charges by the inch so bigger the deer, bigger the replacement cost. Texas put the replacement cost of this deer at $27,000. The guy just ruined his life. Of course, this guy was already a scumbag before he poached.

Recent law change has increased the wanton destruction of wildlife to a third degree felony in Utah now. So basically when this ding-dong gets busted, it will destroy his life. But more than likely he is already scum and some jail time could be an improvement to his quality of life.

I saw that they are only offering $1000 reward though. I wonder if I let them keep the grand and paid them an additional thousand if I could get a Henry tag? I need to get some of those dudes from CSI to give me a hand.

It doesn't matter what the punishment is, its not enough.

Unreal what morons some people are. I guess in a day and age when some don't think twice about shooting at humans, a damn out of season deer don't stand a chance.

It appears the UDWR already has a good lead.

Since there was a buff hunt going on in that area when the buck was poached, the first ones to look at are those that held the tags for the hunt. -TONY
