Here's a picture of a buck taken last year on my trail camera.

And here's a picture of the buck my nephew killed this year about a mile from my trail camera. Could he grow that much in one year? (30 inches or so) Or is this his little brother? The antler shape is very close and no G1's

I would say different buck for sure. Aside from being much bigger, there are a few other characteristcs that set them apart. The back forks for one, they are straighter and branch higher on the smaller buck. I'm sure there are a few other differences too.

P.M. me the exact coordinates & I'll tell you for sure :)
J/K, I agree with Roy, same genetics pool.

I agree. It look to me like its a different buck because the big buck curls in at the top and the smaller one angles more out. None the less. Its an awesome buck! congrats to the hunter.

Nope not the same buck by a long shot. Besides all of the other details pointed out look at the difference in the width. It does look like there from the same genetic line though. Well one thing is for sure that is a DANDY BUCK and I would bet with the genetics in that area you will continue to have success there.

Just by looking at that picture its antlers look very similar especially the bases. That deer in the picture has pretty good bases for a young deer. Having a pedicle that big can allow more growth than a buck with a small pedicle.

I can't say for sure if it is the same deer or not but I can say I have seen deer put on that much bone in one year.

All you have to do is look at any deer ranch and you will see 200? 2 and 3 year old deer.So a deer that is around 4 with great genetics could get that big.

Why don't you tell me where you caught this buck on camera and I will do some reconnaissance and tell you if it is still alive.

Archery is a year round commitment!!

Isnt that the buck that was killed around Beaver; and then confiscated by the DWR because of the illegal scope on the bow?
Too bad...that is one toad of a typical...

By the way,
I live in UT.
There are a lot of UTARDS that live here.
I have also seen quite a few WYOMORONS, NEVADUHNS, COLORADORKS, ID-IOTS and AIRHEADZONANS in my travels.

Same gene pool, but not the same deer. Whatd the second buck score?

Timberline

This is the buck that was killed on the Beaver and as I understand is the new typical state archery record. I heard the DWR took the buck, but no one will confirm. If anyone has definite knowledge, lets hear about it. Lets not start any rumors!

Holey crap some weird rumors get started on the internet. Why would the UDWR confiscate a deer shot legally in Utah? It's not illegal to use electronic sights on your bow, they just cannot have any magnification (which the sight does not). It cant be entered in P&E but could be entered in Boone & Crockett if he wanted to strip the velvet, which he does not. The buck is being mounted by Paul Pennie as we speak. It was measured after the drying period at 200 2/8 which should make it the new Utah state typical archery record buck. I will repeat IT WAS NOT CONFISCATED BY THE UDWR.

If you want to see the Beaver buck,it will be in the Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife booth at the ISE Sportsmans expo in Salt Lake City in March.

Possibly--same gene pool as mentioned.... But, I say no way on the same deer ?. I'd shoot in heart beat though... Thanks for posting.
