Well it looks like No Utahs warm weather only lasted two days, I hope it was enough to melt some south facing slopes?

It melted easily 16" of snow around here. Many lawns and south facing slopes are bare, but we'll see what the next two weeks bring.

........but they are all reburied now after today's arctic blast!!

It was GREAT weather today in Utah.....if your a muskox!!

The melt hasnt done crap up AF Canyon... was up there saturday snowmobiling and there was another 16" of fresh snow. Wife ended up burying my 156" on a hill side, took 30 min to dig it out with a shovel and it was all the way down to the grass. Left a hole there almost 6ft deep by the time that sled clawed its way out.

I feel sorry for the deer and elk, they are having a hell of a time right now trying to survive, but its probably one of the best snowmobiling years in a decade. Every week I've gone up theres another 12-16" of fresh powder.

not real sure where it melted 16" inches of snow. The animals are in big trouble right now with the weather today and what is in store for the rest of the weak.

and i say "PLEASE" refrain from shed hunting right now, these animals are NOT doing very good!!

There's a cow moose in the foot hills above pleasant grove that can't hardly even get up!

LAST EDITED ON Jan-28-08 AT 05:53PM (MST)[p]Slamdunk- +100. Shed hunters this time of year can have a dramatic effect on struggling animals.

All the 2 day thaw did is melt the existing snow enough to freeze a thick crust on the remaining snow. Now it is a skating rink on the hill and deer can't dig thru it. Similar to the 92-93 winter when the Deep Creeks lost 80-90% of the deer herd and the rest of the state was hit with a huge die-off. That is just my opinion on areas I watch.

Well here is a Question?

I look up above my house and can see that the south facing slopes are wind blown.

What is better wind that keeps the south facing slopes clear or Calmness that deer need to dig into the snow to find food???
