Wyoming hunts

My dad really wants to go back and hunt Wyoming. He has not been there for ..25 years! He even is looking at a CWD unit. How crowded are the G H W and D units. We are looking at the hunts with 20% or better draws. He is already counting backwards how many hunts he has left. I would just be happy waiting out for my PP to come through in CO. Or start waiting with WY also. Any help?

The public land hunts in the regional hunts in Wyoming generally get hunted pretty hard. There's a chance to get away from people, but expect company wherever you go. You may be able to draw some of those hunts nearly every year if you put in for the special license.

You may also want to consider other regions with 100% draw odds where you can get a trespass fee hunt on private lands. There are several regions like that and with your dad getting older, doing a few more hunts might be worthwhile.

And going to Colorado is also a good idea. I'd say that in general, Colorado has better quality public land hunts for deer than Wyoming. You can often save a point and go hunting the same year, so in a few years you will have a chance at a quality hunt that takes a few points to draw.

Good hunting.

I think the above information pretty well sums it up. You will have other hunters around in any unit unless you pay a fee and hunt on private land. Some areas will just have more hunters than others and of course weekends will be alot busier with all the locals out hunting.
