Deep Creek Archery Elk

Happen to draw a tag for this unit! I'm excited for the challenge, have heard some good things and bad things about this unit! I have only hunted it for Cougars in the past. I've been out there exploring...saw some decent elk that got my attention! Put in and drew! So I will be out there wearing the leather off my boots looking for some Bulls all summer! Does any one have any information that would be useful to an archery hunter while I scout and hunt this range? Any info will certainly be appreciated!

My buddy and I also drew for archery this year! Can't wait to start scouting. I have herd lots of good reports and lots of bad. It probably depends on how much effort you put into it.

Ive spent a lot of time out there seen the herd at different levels over the years. I believe the reason people have tough experiences out there is that it is a tough hunt with a bow. I would probably focus on hunting the bulls around ibapah that are living in the alfalfa fields in the summer. Probably your best bet with a bow. yeah there is going to be some competition, but the other options are a lot tougher, with a lot more hiking and a herd that likes to be on the reservation that time of year.
