Use a high quality bullet like a nosler 115 gr. partition or accubond and I guarantee that the elk won't like it.

I've killed Elk with my 257 Wby, using the 115 TSX. I'm sure your 25-06 will work just about as well, keep your ranges reasonable and use a good bullet!

My dad use to hunt elk with his 25.06 because it was the most accurate gun he had and never had a problem.

Agree with everyone else... I have killed a pile of elk with a 25-06. My boy uses a 25-06 and at the age of ten killed his first bull with a 25-06.

My Wife has taken quite a few cow elk with her 243. She is a good shot, great stalker, and very particular about her shots though.

I killed my biggest bull with my 257 shooting the 115 TSX. It was a complete pass through taking out the top of the humorous on the off side. Not bad for a little .25 caliber on a 344 bull. I did feel under gunned but I think that was my hang up because the elk didn't take another step after the shot. JMO but I think most people are more accurate with the .25 caliber because they don't flinch as much as with the big mag callibers. Just pick a well made bullet and keep your distances reasonable and you will do fine.
