I just received a call today offering me my 2015 Wasatch Late Limited Entry Bull Tag!! I am torn if I take the tag or wait so I can put more time in scouting. I know scouting wont do much good anyways until the rifle hunts have ended. I also know that the rifle and muzzleloader hunts have been difficult cause of the warm weather. Shouldn't that mean this years late hunt should be a good one! I have 24 hours to get back to the DWR if I accept the tag or not! Any advise would help!!!!

You would have had to scout last November.
The elk will show up in the same general areas that they winter in for the last 10 years.
They become very visible on the Wasatch Unit. I think of all the late hunts, the Wasatch is the best / best to see elk.
You are going to have to HIKE, and go far, but you will find bulls.
I have helped people the last 3 years, and they have all shot 330 plus bulls.

If it was me, I would take the tag, but I live in the area, and know where to look.
I think you can find an elk about 5 days before the hunt starts, and have a very high odds he will stick around.

You couldn't of had 12 points cause everyone with 12 points drew out in the regular draw.

If its the tag you was going for anyway then why in the world would you turn it down. I guess I don't see what the issue is, go hunt.

After being unsuccessful this year, he could have earned his 12th point, then got the call. That way he if he accepted the
tag, it would have cost him his 12 points.

I would take the tag, hunt it and move on to something else next year.
You put in for this tag initially so you must have some clue of what you were going to do if you draw it.

Really though, take that tag and enjoy it. You won't be disappointed, and you should do well. Some really good bull have been taken on that tag.

Take the tag. If you aren't finding bulls of the right caliber you can turn the tag back in up until the day before the opener and keep your points. It will cost you the price of the tag though unless you turn it 30 days ahead.

That is lame. so the next guy up gets screwed with no scouting time. It sounds like you kind of took a shot in the dark by putting in for it. If you know the unit and have seen good bulls in the past during that time of year go for it. If you have never study the wasatch heard during the winter before. Then pass

Some on this site ##### and moan about point creep and in the same breath others suggest a tag is turned back in the day before the hunt opens and it doesn't get used.

????

As much as some on this website fret over if they should or should not take tag I am not sure they actually enjoy hunting as much as they enjoy applying for tags. Take the tag and go hunt. If you kill one great if not then so be it.

Here is a little update. The tag is mine and I will be hunting come November 7th. I am super excited but extremely nervous. I have been putting in for this tag the last several years since they re opened it. I know I will enjoy my time on the mountain no matter what. I appreciate all those who have sent private messages offering to help, I really appreciate it. I have several friends that will be hunting me including one friend that used to guide on the Wasatch. I will be putting in a ton of time scouting the next several weeks. Lucky for me my schedule allows me to work 2 days then have 4 days off every week. Now is the waiting game for these rifle hunts to end so I can really crack down and find a bull. I will post pics after the hunt...hopefully they wont be of just me crying in the truck on the way home. Any more advise would still be appreciated on where to start looking. I would love to scout several areas to figure out my best option.

Hope for at least some snow. I would also check on when they close some of the gates in the area I forgot the exact dates.
