What is the going rate for boiling out a deer head ????? just got mine back and thought it was way to high !!!

Did you take it to a taxidermist?

I know a guy who does it and only charges $125.00. He is not a taxidermist.

It's Bush's fault!!!

I charge $90, will mount it on a plaque for the cost of the materials, and everyone tells me that is too cheap.

So how much did you pay?

I paid a good friend $100 a few years ago, and $150 last year. Man, the price of gas is effecting everything.

Seriously, He does an excellent job. The extremely gross procedures of cleaning & bleaching a skull is enough, but he also adds a nice plaque with my name, year of kill, and B&C score.

I think most taxidermist are around 150-200 with a nice plaque. What ever it is, it is worth it for a good job.

Brian, YOU HAVE YOUR OWN BUGS????
You never mentioned that!
My Cousin found a nice pair of LOCKED bucks up
here 2 years back. No way too Boil them. A DOW guy
near Salida bugged them for him. They are perfect.
I would use beetles over boiling any time.
Once the shed season is open I hope to have some work for
your bugs. Brad

Had one done last fall for a friend's kid. $150 for boil and plaque mount.

Take a kid hunting. You will enjoy it more than they do!

Gotta guy in Denver that will clean a skull for around $50 with his beetles. Whitening cost around $80 I think. Mounted more... If anyone wants the link its http://www.secondtrophy.com/

Mark is a great guy to work with. Any other questions ask. Tell him Nick from CO Springs refered you please. Good luck.

+1 for Second Trophy

great price for a great service. Beetles are the way to go. Skulls don't fall apart or separate from boiling, teeth stay tight, no faded out horn burrs from boiling. Second Trophy does a great job, give em a try.
