WY Unit 38 North End

Well I got my application in for Unit 38 Type 9 and with one less than max I am pretty confident I will draw. I have received some great information from fellow MM guys. But most all gave information for the southern portion of the unit. I'm thinking I might be able to get away from the crowds by concentrating in the Northern section. If anyone has hunted there and would share some areas to check out I wold appreciate it.

I'm not exactly sure how you intend on accessing the north end ? Are you coming in from Montana? There is access on the NE corner but it would be a heck of a hike from the south due to closed off logging roads. I guess a lot depends on what you consider the north end?

I guess at this point I am just thinking the Northern part of the unit. I say that only because I recently spoke to the area Biologist and he mentioned not to discount the northern part of the Unit since most hunters concentrate south.

That was the reason for my question. Biologist was not that specific and told me to call back when I have referenced maps in hand.

There are more roads for accessing the south end. The north end is large so it really depends on where in the north end you are considering. You may want to get out some maps and dink around on Google Earth to get a feel for the unit?

38 is a tough place to get away from the crowds because of all the roads and trails in the unit. Getting to the northern half of the unit is no more difficult than getting to the southern half.
