His tine length appears longer than it is because he lacks some mass. The best way I've found to get tine length is judging the brow tines by the nose. Nearly any mature bull will be within a hair of 16" from burr of horn to tip of nose. Once you get homed in on the brow tine length, the rest are easily estimated by comparing to the brow tine, which I'd put right at 16 on this bull. I judge mass by looking at the ears and comparing them to the main beam. I generally use one of 3 mass totals with 50" being light, 55" being medium and 60"+ being a heavy bull and that usually gets me within 5" on mass. I give him 50 on mass. From the side view I put him right at 320 even though his frame makes him look a little better.
