Nevada rip off

ok, stats are out for last year.
Look at the DELK tags or antlerless elk tags that accompany
the deer tag.
The success is ridiculously low. I know your taking a chance, but hell.
They sold 670 tags for the rubies and 575 for area 6.
3 percent success in the rubies.
I got up at the state quota setting meeting and told them
they were not being honest with the sportsman on this.
there isn't 670 cows in the rubies, or at least there is not
supposed to be.
This is a cash cow (excuse the pun) for the dept.
area six was a little better at 10% success but still
Come on
This is wrong.
15 cows killed on 670 tags sold.
THIS IS A RIP OFF!
I'm gonna be interested to see what they propose this year.

Colorado has a similar situation with leftover tags for certain GMUs. Tags are offered in large quantity in these areas where hunting is less desirable due to various reasons like limited public access, high CWD, areas severely affected by weather, and exclusive migration use areas etc.
I've scouted a few of these type GMU's to see what hunting would be like and results were disappointing. Boils down to a money making exercise for the state exploiting the hunter who doesn't know better.

2f350s: Spend the money on additional licenses and HUNT more!

Despite being excellent Elk habitat. The rubies and Much of northern Nevada has very low allowable numbers of elk.

The public lands ranchers dominated the public meetings where the numbers were set for individual units, sportsmen didn't show up or care, hence lots of cow tags to beat down elk numbers.

Don't blame NDOW. Their hands are tied.
