I posted a similar post in the NM thread but figured I'd do the same here so the NR can post too! I was lucky enough to draw a Gila tag and just want to see pics of people who've been lucky enough to tag a Gila Monster! I'll post up pics of my bull from last year later. Thanks guys and gals.

There is no big elk in the Gila, the giant bulls are in unit 52 in NM! Rumor has it the US Fish and wildlife will close all the 16's for the next 5 years to ease pressure on the wolves from having to compete for elk thus diminishing their need to prey on domestic livestock. I also believe this will also coincide with the reintroduction effort to put Grizzlies back in the Gila. I'm not sure where and why I started this rumor but have fun with it!

Good luck to all that were fortunate enough to draw a tag!

I've actually had 2 D tags and an E tag in the last 4 years so i can't complain. the wife has a D tag this year. I'm excited since its her first hunt. a big bull will be hitting the dirt come september.... even though there isn't any big bulls in the gila.... all up north

Pretty nice bull there Psysch! I also drew the same tag as you this year. I'm praying we have no major fires this year in that region. Out of curiosity are you a resident of NM?

Great bulls gents! Will be interested to hear how you guys do in 16b. I'll be next door in 16d!

I am a resident. Makes life a lot easier from what I hear. You should have a great time in 16a. We were into bulls multiple times a day. They were everywhere last year. Let me know if you have any questions.

Ready for my wife's D tag. Hunting from beginning to end and it'll be 330" or bust even since its her first hunt.... If not she will stick a big ol floppy eared cow. more people should take up that practice instead of shooting a 260-300" 2-3 year old bull with potential to be a monster.... just my 2 cents. Quality would be a lot better
