Wasatch muzzleloader elk

I don't know a lot about that about that big ass unit, but I do know a great deal about some specific places. my wife took a 330" 6pt last year on muzzy, my dad took about the same size 5 yrs ago, & I hunted it for archery but went home w/ tag soup cuz I was to picky.

the areas we used to hunt around current creek are now almost non-existent of elk. so we moved south of Renegade on willow creek ridge. about 20+ miles south we found a honey hole w/ water & wallows. last year on my wifes hunt we saw branch antlered bulls every day, could've killed one every day, but she wanted a bull bigger than my 320" archery bull from the uintahs. we did see a few that probably were over 350" but just out of her muzzy range of 100yds. the elk would be very vocal & sound off but would not come into calls. so we got them to sound off then put the sneek on & tried to ambush them. she killed her bull on day 6. Lots & lots of fun!!!!

we went hiking in to her kill site last weekend to look for a knife I lost, within 10 minutes of the truck @ 1pm we were into a herd of 25+ that had 5 branch antlered bulls, the biggest I guessed around 300", we sat & watched them for about a 1/2 hr. further into the hike we walked almost on top of 2 bulls that must of been sound asleep, cuz we jumped them @ 5yds & we were not being quiet & we had our dogs. one bull I'll bet was pushing over 350" as he ran in front of me.

so if you want any other info im willing to share, as we only huint that area when someone we know draws an L.E. tag.

good luck!!!!
