LAST EDITED ON Jul-01-16 AT 10:17PM (MST)[p]We drew idaho for unit 11 bull tag. I am pretty excited. Would anyone be willing to pm me with a starting point for my first scouting trip.
Thanks,
Joe

haven't hunted that unit, but the east side is wheat country and the west side is canyonland dropping down to the river. Should be a fun hunt. I had a 5 point run across 95 into that unit opening morning two years ago. He holed up in a brush patch surrounded by fields right off the road.

Thanks for the reply. We are headed over there in a couple weeks to spends some time in there. We have some stock lined up. From the guys I have talked to it sounds like the further south you get in the unit the better it is. We will see how it goes.
Thanks,
Joe

Been in the unit but never hunted it. I have hunted on the Washington side in the lick Creek unit. So I do know it's steep.

This is personal experience only so take it for what you paid for it. I lived and lewiston for a couple years and 11 is my favorite spot in the world, I now live in CDA area but my folks still live there. Obviously show up in shape. Horses are a good way to hunt it, the other ways are atv, on foot, and by boat. By boat requires A LOT of hiking, the elk are generally 2/3 of the way up but your pack out is down. Atv hunting is via eagle creek road that comes off zaza rd, and it goes down to the salmon river. In my experience big elk on the snake side and lots of elk on the salmon side. If you want to kill a couple 300 class bulls the salmon side is the way to go. If your looking for a 330 plus, id take the whole season off to hunt and focus on the snake side down in the deep timber country. I would meet up for a scouting weekend but, my dad also drew the tag but he drew a great deer tag in a neighboring unit that is his priority. Good luck to you, hope it's a dream hunt. Pm me before the hunt and maybe we can meet up and shoot the sheit.
