i know there is a code of silence on general tag info so how about some huntin stories from region h.

I'm jealous. Region H IMO is a great hunt. I have hunted it twice in the last four years and have seen good bucks 170-180 range but no real monsters. I have eaten tag soup on this hunt holding out for a monster. I am surprise at the number of people you will see at the trail heads and how few people you will see 5+ miles in. My hunting buddy and I put the sneak on two identical buck in the 175 range. They were right off the main trail on the 4th day of the season. We were within 75 yards and sat down and watch them. We decided to let them live another season. Enjoy your hunt you're in some of the best country there is. I'll be hunting 102.

I dont have anything good to say about that area. Dont tell your friends, family, or anyone else about it.

I have access to a ranch on the green river, rather than looking in the high country, would it be better to wait on the big boys to show up on the ranch?

Has Region H gone down hill or is just getting so much pressure that deer are becoming smarter and harder to find?

A bud and i hunted H a couple years ago. We got dropped off way up and away from the trail heads but there was still lots of company on the opening weekend. We saw some nice bucks during our 2+ weeks on the mountain and took one decent buck, 28" 170 class, between us. Awsome country but lots of places where bucks can drop down a bit to get into thick timber and you may never know that they are there.

I'd suggest that you go later in the season if you can. lots less pressure at that time and other buddies, in recent years, have done pretty darn good by today's standards. Good luck!

Don't listen to the Nay-sayers...H is still amazing and the scenery is spectacular. A lot of guys ride right past the good stuff in search of the steepest roughtest country...hunt smarter and let the rest just hunt harder. Yes, H is down from the glory days but so is the majority of the state. H is still one of the top dogs for public land muleys. I cannot wait for September!
