LAST EDITED ON Sep-06-16 AT 11:25PM (MST)[p]Just courius how much difference there was throughout the state with the rut. Has anybody been in a strong rut yet. I'm in central ut and it's just slowly starting (a couple bugles in the mornings) I have seen a couple Bulls pushing cows too. Hopefully next week they are going strong. Anyway, what have you guys been seeing

Was on the La Sal over the weekend, heard a few bugles. Had three bulls going pretty good one morning. Most of the mature bulls still high. I am hoping this weekend things get going!

In norther NV by Elko. I had one bull bugle once or twice while out grouse hunting last weekend. Gave him some cow calls, but he only answered once. Seems like it's just getting started here.

I was on Monroe this weekend and saw 2 great bulls. Only bulged once about noon on Friday, his cows were talking and came into my camp, literally. The bull stayed off a bit. But I snuck into him with my 2 boys, 12 and 10. They thought that was the coolest thing ever. Saw 3 bulls, total and only a few bugles all weekend. Saw lots of cows though.

The bulls in the Book Cliffs were bugling morning and evening. The bigger bulls I saw had their cows all herded up for sure... Rut might come on strong early this year...

"Therefore, wo be unto him that is at ease in Zion!" 2 Ne. 28: 24

We had a bull bugling on Friday just before dark. Hunter passed on him at 30 yards. But they went quite after that. No more bugles all weekend. This is in Central Utah Fish lake. On Monday morning we got down to 30 degrees and had a little ice on the four wheeler seats. Yes I said a four letter word.

Here is the bull he passed up. He was pulling card from the camera and he was there 5 minutes before. He came back when we bugle .

I saw a bull on the oquirrhs last night pushing 8-10 cows and chasing a rag horn off, but no noise yet.

Reports are it is picking up in Southern UT.

Oddly, I hunted the archery general tag on the Zion Unit (Public land) and the spot I was in was none stop bugling from several bulls for the opening morning and into the second day. I called my first bull ever in (first attempt and first archery elk tag for me) as well as 3 others and the elk I shot the second day I called in twice. The first I hit a stick and missed it then I moved and called it in again.

The largest bull that I had on camera had already taken over group the cows. A mile away in a more pressured area, the cows were still alone with only spikes and never heard a bugle the next week with friends.

Elk are odd creatures.

We're hunting around Webster flats heard one bugle yesterday morning but other than that haven't seen much sign. Looks like they were in here a few weeks ago but who knows.
