I really like that mount.
Nice cuts on the rear part of the cape.
Great angle of the pose.
Even the ear set up is my favorite.
Great job and thanks for sharing.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-22-08 AT 07:33AM (MST)[p]You're supposed to leave those small "Meat Bucks" out there for guys like me!

Na, that is an awesome Trophy and a Great mount! Show us some of those others it looks like you have.

Thanks guys, I thought it turned out really well. I have never liked the ears forward alert, with the head staight forward. I have always liked the calm relaxed look. After all, isn't that how we like to find them, not a clue in the world that you are there? I told my taxidermist that he had free rein to do with the ears as he pleased just not straight forward. I think he did an awesome job.

marley,

Very nice job and a great buck to boot. WHO did the TAXIDERMY WORK for you, and only one year wich is even better.

Brian

I had "Mount 'n' High Taxidermy" do it. They are in Colorado Springs and they do a phenomanol job on any animal you can take them. They have done all my work. They just finished Fred Eichlers fannin sheep full body mount and it was the coolest mount I've ever seen. From a full body elephant mount to birds and fish they will do it right. Highly recommend them to anyone.

Who did your mount, if you don't mind telling us? Does he have a website?

Thanks!

One more thing, they have 3 guys in there working so turn around time is usually only 6-9 months.

I don't post much, but I had to on this thread. That is a fabulous-looking mount. What's the story behind the harvest?

The mount came good congrats on your first Colorado Buck.

I like everything about that pose. IMO, the trend now is to put
a lot of creases in the cape. Yours would be the type of taxidermy work I would hope.

Thanks everyone for the comments. For those that would like the story behind the hunt, it is in the March issue of the 'Huntin Fool' magazine.

I thought he had a pretty reddish colored cape for a 3rd season hunt. Most the other bucks I saw taken were a lot more of the normal gray color you see later in the year. Pretty unique in the coloring. Sure wish he would've split his G2s and G3s a little sooner down the beam but I didn't shoot this buck because I thought he would score well. He's as big as he'll ever be!

Great looking animal and a awesome job on the mount. Congats!

What is the spread on him? I know I will get ripped again for asking I just like deer with a good spread. Thanks

On the hoof I put him at 33 inches when I was scouting him out. Once on the ground he was 31 1/2" wide. My eyes were bigger than my tape measure, kind of the same way when I go out to eat, eyes bigger than my stomach.

What can I say that hasnt been said... Great Buck, and a Beautiful Mount.
Congrats Marley

By the way,
I live in UT.
There are a lot of UTARDS that live here.
I have also seen quite a few WYOMORONS, NEVADUHNS, COLORADORKS, ID-IOTS and AIRHEADZONANS in my travels.

Super nice mount, really looks great. thanks for posting!!

i have one that could be his twin brother 31 1/4" Same everything except yours has much the nicer eyeguards. Looking at your mount makes me regret not having mounted mine.
