Finally got some time to clean up the old burnt stump I hauled off the mountain years ago! Been saving this for the perfect pedestal. I think it turned out pretty awesome!

That looks really sweet - congrats!!!

Would you mind posting another picture once you get it inside your house? I'd like to get some more perspective of just how much room a pedestal elk mount like this would take up (you know, for that giant bull I plan to kill every fall!)

Looks great! I've always wondered how an elk would do on a floor pedestal stump. I didn't know if there would be issues with keeping it balanced. I have a couple whitetails on a cedar stump, but they obviously don't weigh near as much and don't extend out as far.

Thanks everyone for the kind remarks!! Im very please with the final outcome of the setup!
to answer a few ?

Heartshot- I decided to leave the natural weathered look. no clear coat
I contemplated sanding it and clear coating it to give the wet look and more contrast between the chard areas. but the wife liked the natural look

osu92 - Don't we all plan on killing giant bucks and bulls every year ;)
this particular pedestal set up takes up a 4' by 6' corner of my basement. Ill post a pic of it

map1 - Thx! I live in southern Utah. believe it I'm only about 15 miles north of st George

Dreaminof200 - I got very lucky in finding this stump, with the long roots spidered out the balance worked out perfectly.

This is one of the coolest elk mounts I've ever seen. I can't imagine how awesome it looks in person. I might be a little biased since big 5 points are my favorite. :7

That is one gorgeous mount, showed it to my wife and she loved it to... Courious about the appropriate weight on the stump .
