Nope. A little "crabby" up front. No but really, I'd drop the hammer on him in a second. I think if you look at how his G3's spread out....I think 28" Isn't unrealistic.
 
I believe he's over 27 inch. His ears are laying flat out and not erect, alert pose. He would be hard to pass.
 
If I were Founder I would let him go, but since I am ktc, I shoot him.;-)

Seems like I say that a lot?

I live in UT.
There are a lot of UTARDS that live here.
I have also seen quite a few WYOMORONS, NEVADUHNS, COLORADORKS, ID-IOTS and AIRHEADZONANS in my travels.
 
Founder, this guy is below your lofty standards. Leave him for the rest of us.
 
I passed one like that last year, hopefully he made it through the winter and is bigger and better this year. If I find him again he won't have to worry about migrating to the winter range.
 
If I could hold onto my bow,knock an arrow ,than yeah he's a shooter, but thats only if I don't drop my bow.
 
My first thought was that he looks a lot like that Wyoming buck i killed in 2005, "bucks and beans". Mine was 28", grossed mid 170's

I'd say they are about the same kinda buck and if i had gotten a better look at mine before i had the now or never shot, i'da passed. Tough call. I don't want to see a buck like this early in the hunt.

Thats a 30 inch buck----weak forks but a nice box horn configuration. Hate to see him on the first dsy, may ruin my month long hunt,,,,now you ain't gonna tell us you got another Wyoming tag again Founder????
 
That buck will easily make better than 28", maybe not 30, but darn close because of the flared out G3's....sorry Bess.

Score- 170 and some change. :)

If that's the best buck you have seen and can expect to see where you are hunting.......hammer him.

that guy will easily go 28-29 inches. he has a big ole body. shooter in my book for sure.

If that crab claw was on the other side I'd swear I know that deer--I'd shoot him.
 
According to my calculations, this buck has 74" on one side, and 73" on his other, toss in a 24" inside spread and you have a buck that scores 171". :)

Would you like me to add some chocolate syrup to those shorts Slam_a_Rama? ;-)

BTW- "Slam" is already patented!! :)

He'd be damm hard to let go, just has that look that I personally really like, he's crabby on the front but my trigger finger might be smarter than my head on this one.
 
Touche to the original "Slam". I stand corrected, if this buck isn't 180+ by the time he finishes growing, I'll eat Founder's shorts with Slamdunk's chocolate syrup on them.

I guess we'll have to wait for Founder to dump the buck and put a tape on him.

If i were you i would eat slams camo shorts! not much to eat. they are almost as small as a girls thong. and with the chocolate sauce it will glide rite down!

Hopefully we'll know exactly how big he is, but I won't hold my breathe. My guess is that he's avoided getting dead in previous years and will probably do it again.
I'll try....sure would like to see someone eating shorts....LOL

I'll keep my shorts clean for "slamorama, i wouldn't do that to him.
Infact, he can trade my shorts for a hat if he'd like. ;-)

I'd try to stick an arrow in him, but not sure with the rifle. And Idd say this short-eating contest will be real close. I'd guess him "just under" 180. I'd be sure to get someone with a shrunk tape to score him because short eating could be tough, even with a little chocolate to wash it down.
 
Brian, why not jump into the fray with us. What do you think his width and score are?

Despite the possibility of my having to eat chocolate covered shorts :-(, I hope you get him because he is a nice buck and I think we'd all like to know definitively what his measurements are.
 
As he is now, I think he's 30" wide and scores around 173.
I just don't think I could let him walk unless I find a bigger one. Even with a bigger buck found, it would be hard not to shoot a buck like this one. Atleast for me and where I'll be.

Nice looking buck. I'd say 28-29 and low 170's. For me, I'd pass but if I see a buck like that when hunting with my son this year, I'd tell him to kill it. The question for you is, do ya like him? If you do, drop him if ya get the chance. If you have to convince yourself that you like him, then let him walk and hunt hard lookin for something that you do like.
 
According to many years of check station surveys only 6% of all bucks measured were over 30 inches. I'd say a 30 inch buck is a real trophy all by itself.Probably more rare than a 180 inch buck.If that buck is in Utah, I'd hammer him, especially with a bow. If he's in CO, than I think Brian knows the answer to that question.

One other thing. What this buck lacks in G4's will likely be made up in inside spread and MB. I'd also put him in the high 170's but this is also the kind of buck that might suprise you when he's on the ground.

I would guess that this buck is only 27 inches wide. It also has shorter main beams and like previously mentioned crab claws. It also isn't very tall. I would say that this buck will net around 163-165. This buck is a taker, but you might be surprised with the amount of ground shrinkage (When you walk up and look at it up close). Good luck and enjoy the hunt.
 
Well, I didn't get this deer. So for now, I guess no one will be eating shorts or anything like that....LOL

Maybe someone else will get him and we can find out if the buck was 30 inches or not.
