Well, you got a darn good point, but ah... i'd have to want to do "my duty" during the other 10 or 11 months of the year. I work hard and save when i can just to be able to hunt. To me, that's the priority.

To each his own i suppose but i'd get out of it somehow!

Show up. Sit there until you find out what the case is and tell the first atty that questions you, that the defendant probably had a good reason for commiting whatever crime he committed.

By the way, I was in the Navy....I did all the "civic duty" I am ever going to do.

You civic duty is done as soon as you are dismissed by the selection committee. I'll play as fair as the government that is asking me to play. If i can tip the scales in my favor by stating a few facts to the selecting attorneys that they may or may not like, i will.

If this letter arrives at my house, say, in January, i'm fine with that, but my government needs to be aware, i'm busy Aug- Nov.

just 2cents.

Go in scratching your head and crotch profusely and tell them that you might have crabs, or lice, or something.... Maybe even ask them for their opinion on it... They won't wanna spend any time in a room with ya. ha ha ha...

But seriously, someone on here mentioned you get one pass. I took mine a while ago when it would have made a big impact on my income due to work.

Second time around I served.

Just walk in and say the phrase that pays WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO ITS A GOOD DAY FOR A HANGIN!!!
Good Luck and Great Memories

I spent 6 weeks on a murder trial once. Personally, I thought the guy was innocent, but if I had to sit there for 6 weeks I figured someone's going down! 25-life. sorry Bud!

What the heck is a Federal jury notice? You might not want to ignore it.:)

That truly is a bummer. Tell 'em you're absolutely fed up with all the scumbag attorney's making money getting criminals off. You'll be telling the truth (I assume), have done your civic duty, and will be able to go on your hunts.

had the same thing happen to me and a friend of mine.i told them that i owned my own company and it didnt run without me and i was excused.my friend knew some one that had something to do with the case and was excused.like the first or second day they came out and called about 30 peoples names and said if you know any of these people please step foward and he did and was excused.i know someone else that had federal duty and was put up under guard in a motel room for a month without any contact with his family a real nightmare good luck with yours you might be able to get your money back from the state.

Ill tell you right now, the only thing that will suck worse than having to sit through a two week trial is a federal marshall sitting on your front porch when you get back from your hunt.

Show up, answer the questions truthfully, and pray like hell you draw a number higher than 20 when you first walk in the door.

I recently was called in for jury duty in my city court. I got there right at 8AM and there was a line of people in front of me. The bailiff started counting in the courtroom and came out and said "The magic number is 55 - cut them off after that." The guy in front of me was just then drawing 54. Crap! Missed it by 1 number. Took number 55 and went in the court room and sat down. The bailiff instructs us then in the middle the judge calls him in to chambers, he comes back out and says "All rise". The judge comes out and told us the defendants all plead out and that all jurors up to number 55 were excused and taken out of the jury pool and that the others beyond 55 had to report the next day too! Wheh! Good thing I didn't let that other guy cut in front of me!

Federal jury duty is different than regular jury duty, if you pull any of the above mentioned pranks and you could end up in jail for 30 days, not like the 50.00 fine and contempt of court in your local court house.

never served on federal jury but know 2 people that have and they said it was 10 times worse than a regular jury the one thing you have going for you is that your a hunter and if its a murder trial they dont much like hunters to sit on them because of the gun issue. good luck.
