Everyone has been saying that the winter kill on elk and deer was going to pretty nasty for most western states.. two days ago I participated in the WY Jackson Hole horn race for the first time and was expecting to see a lot of dead heads picked up, but in fact I only saw one. Has anyone heard what the real damage will be when all said and done?

Any thoughts on the winter kill would be appreciated! Thanks

There are truckloads of dead elk taken off the refuge daily once the snow melts enough they can get their trailers to them. I have heard of at least 8 bulls over 375 found out there this winter dead... and everywhere you looked there were piles of dead cows all over. It was not a pretty site throughout this winter.

I was up ther a few weeks ago and from the road you could see 7-8 dead animals. I'm assuming that a lot more were dead further in.

Every now and then there is that one post that takes you by surprise! ^^^^+1

Appreciate the laugh buddy, I needed it!

All 3 years I have hunted there I saw a lot of dead elk? Not sure how that works but can't figure out how only 1 was taken out.

So the 'Tourist Hunter' thinks Winter Kill is in Mid-December??
