Another lucky year

I was fortunate enough to take a nice bull again this year on the archery hunt. Tried out some new strategies this year. I had to hunt early on my tag this year since I had committed to help out a buddy in his LE tag In Utah, so instead of calling him in I was able to ambush my bull.
This was a backcountry backpack hunt. I had spotted 41 bulls in the 2 days leading up to the hunt. Opening day my buddy took a 5x6 bull in a spot where i watched 7 bulls feed into the trees the day before. I took my bull 3 days later, we had 12 bulls and about that many cows feed by us the day before but none of them were good mature bulls. Luckily this guy showed up the next day. We were planning on packing out of that area after that morning if nothing decent showed up. Glad we stuck around long enough for this guy to come and steal the herd of cows.

Year in and year out, you get it done. Your consistency is very impressive, that is tough to do.

Hunt Hard. Shoot Straight. Kill Clean. Apologize to No One.

Killer Bull!! Way to stick it out. I can be hard to stay after a few days of not connecting.

Post up your buddy's bull if you can.

Nice one Dan!

What kind of setup are you shooting your bow? Arrow weight, speed, broadhead? Whatever it is, it works! Preparing for an archery elk hunt in the near future and comparing various setups to mine.

Thanks and congrats again!

Great bull!!! Congratulations!

I was helping a friend hunting south of you. I believe he talked to you while scouting. It got tough after the first few days, quiet. He killed a much smaller bull on the 15th day of his hunt after passing better bulls.

That said, your trophy means that much more to me. Personally, I hate the early season, pre-rut.

EMD,
Congratulations! Glad you and your friend had successful hunts! That is a great bull!
As elkslayer stated our partner put in a lot of time and effort looking for Mr. Big, just wasn't meant to be this year. I only got to spend a few days down there with him. Miscommunication on my part.
Feel like I left him hanging. Not a good feeling.

Right on man!
You get LUCKY about every year. Seems more like a trend than luck to me!
Congrats Dan!
