I am currently shooting the 140gr accubonds in 270win. Have been considering trying some diffrent bullets next season. What do you guys think? Mainly shooting deer/antelope and the occasional bear.

I have shot the XP3 in 30.06 150 gr and 300 wsm 180 gr, the last 2 seasons and have loved what they have done. The first was my .06 at a muley in Colorado, hit him a little far back at 315 yards but still got some lung and he only went 20 yards and fell over dead. The second was in 07 with my 300wsm in Idaho, put another muley down at 501 yards (Leupold vx-111 scope with B&C reticle) hit him just below the backbone at over 500 yards and the damage was amazing for that distance. Does cause a lot of blood shot, but I would rather cut out a little chewed up meat and put the animal right down than have to track him very far. About the only thing I dont like is the price!($48.99 for the 300 wsm)

I don't know much about the XP3 but myself and several friends all shoot the Accubond in our 300RUM's and have a trophy room of animals that prove they do the job, close and long range. I have no reason to change at this point.

I have no documented experience with accubonds.

However, I went to South Africa in 2007 and purchased 2 boxes of XP3's for my 270 WSM.

Simply amazing comes to mind. I harvested 6 critters and had complete pass thru on every one. I did shoot the wildebeest 2 times but a good bullet does not overcome poor shot placement. The gemsbok was hit behind the front shoulder, passed diagonally thru the animal exiting the opposite hip.

I shot a muley buck last fall at about 60 yards hitting him from the front where the backbone, neck and shoulders come together. Completely demolished everything.

They do not mushroom as much. I understand these are the same as the "black talon" bullet that received some bad press a few years ago. I really like them.

My only concerns are price and I do wonder on deer and smaller game if they aren't a bit overkill. They wouldn't make much of a hole if you shot into the lungs and didn't hit bone or hard muscle. Would for sure go all the way thru.
