So what is everyones plans for the hunt? Everyone leaving tuesday night or holding off until the weekend? I have a couple of spots picked out for the hunt.I'm going to sit at the edge of a couple of good meadows and hope for the best.I have tried spot and stalk but I really suck at it.Every time I go for the stalk I get turned around and can never find them.I have tried the tree stand in a couple of different spots but no luck.Deer are in the area but I can't find a good way to get into them.It is a thick area with pines and aspen trees.Open meadows with a couple of springs in the area. There is a bear in the area that has recently killed a fawn so all the deer are way spooked. What to do?

I am down to counting the days. I hope a week from now I am sitting in camp. For me, I am heading to the area that I have hunted most of my life (nearly 40 years), it's like going home. My favorite type of hunting regardless of season is still hunting. The area I hunt does not lend itself to spot and stock unless you count spot at 500 yards and stock to 100. I can't stand to set on a stand. I will make myself sit at water if there is action. I love the time of year of the ML, but I hope we get some wetter weather either befor or during. Still hunting is tough when it is so dry.

I hope we get some rain as well. The weather said we should be getting a storm here in a couple of days.

Hopefully I can get down on the day before. It's gonna be interesting since I've never hunted the area before (Uintas) and am thinking about hiking my tail off, then hunting spot-n-stalk style. It's also my first muzzy hunt. Good luck to all.

Good luck guys on what ever style you prefer. Sounds like fun

If I was hunting I would find a buck as far away from any road, 4-wheeler trail, or horse trail as I could. I would then pack in at least a day or two maybe three and find a good buck I wanted to shoot on opening day. I would pattern him as best as I can from a distance with a spotting scope. I would then wake up several hours before light on opening day and head out into the area the buck is frequenting being careful to check the wind. I would than find him just as soon as it gets light and make my move before anyone else can find him. If I have seen a bunch of headlamps coming in I should be able to adjust my position to give myself the best advantage at taking the buck. This has worked for me for a few years in a row on opening day of the archery hunt.

If the opening day scenario doesn't work I would head out and take a few days off later in the week when every one else has gone home and try it again without the pressure of all the weekend warriors.

Archery is a year round commitment!!

I will be hunting the Book Cliffs this year. I am planning on leaving the night of the 22nd and will be out there until the 2nd of Oct. I am so anxious to get up in the hills that I am about worthless at work.
