My daughters first buck.. kindof.

While we were out today we came across an injured buck that had part of one of his hooves torn off and was limping pretty bad. I figured the right thing to do would be to put him down and put notches in my tag. I am not sure what happened to him. His antlers or antler as I should say was odd for a muley and the other was a stub. Here is a pic of him, could he be a whitetail/muley cross? We have seen whitetails up in that area.
I don't know what one would look more like, a whitey or a muley. Anyone ever seen one?
It was nice to share it with my little girl. She stuck her finger up his nose and said ca ca.(yuck) She was excited to have her first buck to look at. That made it all worth while.

Difinatly a mule deer body with the big ears. kinda looks a little like a whitetail horn but pretty sure its just a odd mule deer. Good job for puttin your tag on him and finishing him off from the limping and the torn up hoof. Even better you had your daughter there with you. Congrats

Here is a pic of his hoof. It is the left front. You can see it has been injured and almost tore off half way up the hoof on the inner split.

Some guys would not have used there tag on that buck irrigardless of the situartion, I have to say that I'm glad your one that would. I hate to see animals suiffer-thanks.

100% Mule deer. Just a small buck with some bad genes. It also looks like his hoof injury may have affected his antler growth and his foraging. Not a bad buck for a mercy kill. Also congrats for putting your tag on it, I know a there are a bunch of folks who would have just put him down and let him lay.

No but seriously i'm one that appreciates anybody taking a managemnt buck regardless his size. Not really one you want in the pool. Maybe it makes me an ass too but i'd probably have to go try finding someone else to shoot it I think. Definately appreciate anyone that will though so congrats on filling the tag and thank you because I do think it was the right thing to do!!
